Who did you sacrifice to Boethiah?
I'm having trouble deciding what to do about this quest. My follower is also my character's husband, and I don't feel right about killing anyone who's had my back throughout the game. If I had a choice, I'd take my housecarl from Solitude because she keeps asking if I'm lost when I enter MY own house! (Just kidding, of course.) Maybe I need a mod so that I can take Erikr or his sister, Gisli? What about Nazeem or one of the two snobs at Radiant Raiment? I'm getting fed up with their catty remarks anyway. :-P

Vorstag and I killed all the cultists at Boethiah's shrine, but she still wants me to sacrifice someone. Who's a good candidate?

The first time I did that quest, I picked Stenvar[www.uesp.net]. That poor man had a nasty surprise after I hired him for a short walk.
Unfotunately, Rolff Stone-Fist[www.uesp.net] wasn't eligible as "Best sacrifice of the year", else I'd have picked him.

Poor Stenvar! I actually like most of the potential followers, really, the mercs I've had have all been quite good fun, even Marcurio has the distinction of being about the only person in Skyrim who's friendly to my dogs!

That's a good idea! Thank you.

That defeats the point of the quest.

During this playthrough I am playing a good Dunmer priest, who worships the traditional Dunmer pantheon of Azura, Mephala, and Boethiah. So I spent most of the game thinking in the back of my mind how to complete this quest. How to reconcile Boethiah with a good Dunmer character?

During the Dawnguard story I was sure that Serana was the perfect candidate. Evil vampire (and probable cannibal) and thus a threat to the Dunmer, worshipper of Molag Bal who is Boethiah's enemy, and the game's single most annoying follower. Except... she's essential, even hardcoded to be essential to you can't even use the console to fix it. Plus she has no "I want you to do something" option in her dialog. Grrrr!

So I ended up sacrificing Ralis Sedarys. His collaboration with Ahzidal was his own death warrant. You just don't feed a whole line of faithful Dunmer miners to an undead Nord and expect to get away with it, no matter how contrite you may be afterward.

I sacrificed nobody because my game kept glitching out whenever I told someone to use the pedistal (they wouldn't use it, and no they weren't essential/protected) so I had to use the console to SetStage it. :(

I might have to do it that way if I can't get past the guilt.

Hahaha! I was gonna ask that girl's name from the inn in Whiterun. lol@Barney!

I think I remember Sven asking me to take a hateful letter to Camilla. I told her Faendel didn't write it. Faendel was my first follower on this playthrough. If I don't take the girl from the Bannered Mare, I might take Sven. Didn't know he was eligible as a follower. Thanks!

Only if you take his side against Faendal. Mind you, it turns out Faendal is as much of a lying arsehole as Sven. If I could ever get the 'make anyone into a follower' thing on AFT working, I'd be fairly tempted to bring Farengar, I think he annoys me even more than Nazeem. Although he's quite useful in the Whispering Door quest, of course.

Oh, I see. I've got the woman from the Bannered Mare. We're about to leave Whiterun. She's hateful, but I still feel bad about doing this.

My wife, Lydia. It was a fair trade. I figure if you are going in on an evil deal, do it right.

Oh, wow! I guess I can see where you're coming from, but I really don't like betraying someone I'm supposed to care for. I'm not judging you, though. I'm just pretty soft-hearted. :-)

If your character is a soft-hearted individual then she probably wouldn't be making deals with Boethiah in the first place. If she is making such a deal, then the probably isn't all that soft-hearted at all.

One of the followers from the Orc strongholds.

Just try and focus on the... incident at Jorrvaskr? (I actually quite like Uthgerd, but yeah. Woman has a Past.)

I understand. So far, though, I've only killed people who've attacked me first. If I cause a death by accident, I reload a save. That's just who I am. It even bothers me that I have so many assaults listed in my stats. Most of those are there because I unintentionally hit Vorstag or guards during combat sequences. I'm only doing these quests because I'm a completionist. Probably won't do them on any subsequent playthroughs.

Yeah, when she told me that story, I felt a bit sorry for her. I'm sure she has other reasons for being bitter, too. I'll just try not to feel guilty after the quest is done. Ugh! I love this game. The Daedric quests break the immersion for me, though.

Sometimes I feel sorry for her. Sometimes I think "well, there's no way I'm taking YOU anywhere with me..." and back away slowly.

I haven't run across that quest, I don't think. I'll Google Ralis Sedarys and maybe I'll remember him from my first playthrough. I played last year for the first time.

Yeah, I may end up being the sacrifice. :-D
