When do dragons start spawning from burial sites?
I know dragons start spawning after defeating the dragon at the Western Watchtower. But when do they all appear out of their burial sites? I've wandered Skyrim before after starting the main quest and some of the burial sites are still covered and some word walls have no dragons. At what point do all dragons appear in Skyrim?

You have to start the main quest first and speak to a certain NPC in Riverwood, and you'll be taken to fight a dragon in the process of being resurrected. You'l also get a map of dragon resurrections, if you can figure out the pattern you'll have an idea where they'll appear next.

When word wall dragons are killed they respawn after a time, minus anymore words. I believe the respawn type depends on your level, once you hit level 50, they'll be Ancient dragons.

during the main quest, right after you deliver the stone to whiterun, you are asked to investigate a dragon sighting. when you are done investigating dragons at word walls and random dragons start appearing. as you progress the MQ other dragon burial sights open.
unless you have the mod which starts them from moment 1 of the game.

Hmm, I didn't think of a mod. What I want to do is get all the dragons spawning from burial sites and on word walls as soon as possible. I'm starting a new game today and I want as many dragons as possible without having to go through all of the main quest.

it works good with alternative start mods

This might be for your taste then. If you are like me and don't like Steam to manage your mods, then author had us covered. Mod has external loading site, for NMM, MO or manual installation.

I have not started a main quest yet. I simply selected that scripted dragons should be available right from the start. You will still need to finish that portion of main quest for burial site spawns, but you can travel around Skyrim for other dragons and wordwalls to speed your ability to finish that quest.

My advice is to just head for the Western Watchtower when Jarl Balgruuf tells you to and fight the dragon there. That's what triggers dragons as random enemy encounters, so you don't have to proceed with the main quest right away after this point if you want more dragon souls. As for dragons at buriel sites, they begin to appear at certain intervals of the main quest.

The thing is, I've always finished the main quest right away on every play through so that all dragons are available. But I'm starting a new game today (see my discussion on "In honor of Memorial Day) and I'm looking for that one spot in the main quest that will generate all dragons: randomly spawned, buried dragons, and word wall dragons.

Don't forget that the Dragons are been raised from the mounds by Alduin.

Unmodded like i said will release them upon going to the tower for the jarl and killing the first dragon you can fight but other named buried dragons spawn at intervals according to your progress in the Main Quest

Well after a little research and everyone's input I found that the random dragons sqawn after the Western Watchtower, the word wall dragons after Keynsgrove, and burried dragons are resurrected by Alduin thorughout the main quest. So I guess the point after the dragon at Keynsgrove is what I'm looking for. Thanks everyone for your advise.

Here one Alduin is about to raise. He is flying around it.

Unfortunately there was another dragon there too, ready for a full on fight.

Most of that is correct, though there a couple points to take note of. First, dragons can be found at word walls after the Western Watchtower; these aren't named dragons, they're random. Next, the dragons Alduin resurrects do spawn during several intervals of the main quest, but some of the sites won't have dragons. This is because Alduin has already been there and the ones who were buried there might be at another location nearby. Some buriel mounds won't be raised right away since some only get unearthed after a particular point in the main quest while others are revived at another stage of the quest. Hope this information helps.
