Are you talking about playing as a vampire or one of the Dawnguard. And what was wrong with Serana?
My favorite quest line is Dragonborn........just love going to Apocrypha........need a mod where you can have a house there.........
What??? Serana is probably the one of if not the best follower, it's really a shame you can't marry her without mods because there seemed to actually be a connection between the PC and her compared to any other follower.
Honestly that makes her even better of a character. In most cases a companion is a lover but in this case, she doesn't feel the way the PC does. That's just even more depth.
Thieves' Guild is probably my fave faction questline, it's plotholey as swiss cheese, but I just like it. Not super keen on most of the Daedric quests (yes, I know TG has Daedric aspects), but (aside from my loathing of that tedious, unskippable, booming voice thing when you pick up the Beacon) Meridia's is quite fun and with the Daedric Dawnbreaker mod I like the sword a lot.
I only recently finished the College for the first time and really liked Labyrinthian (but I don't like many of the people at the College, and it's in dreary old Winterhold, which puts me off, rather). I actually like most of the Companions, but I've never quite finished the questline for various reasons.
I quite like the Book of Love, one of the very few quests where there's no 'go here, kill this' involved, and the reward is nice.
The questline itself is epic in duration and packed with new stuff and locations. I prefer doing Dawnguard as early as possible to exploit those goodies.
The flirty dialouges aren't meaningless, you don't get to marry her because she has a fear of temples, Why??? Because she became a Vampire by being offered at a temple to Molag Bal, she was then r a p e d by him, just as her mother. Few survive this ordeal which is why Serana's mother stays in the Soul Carin and Serana Fort Dawnguard, so their blood can't be used by Harkon.
What?
