Why Chickens are considered gods by the people of Skyrim
The most heinous crime in all of skyrim is to kill a chicken, post your opinions on why this is.

Inigo knows and he will tell you if you philosophise with him while seated in a tavern.

Because most people in Skyrim are poor and chickens are a food source. When you kill chickens you are lowering their quality of life.

In Skyrim chickens are much more than a food source. Kill one with no witnesses except other chickens and see what happens.

Do the people of Skyrim belive in re-incarnation? If so, maybe they bellive their ancestors that chose to re-incarnate became the first chickens?

Chickens must be demi gods at least. Walking in Riverwood. All of the sudden I am "walking" but not going anywhere. I look down and there is a chicken blocking my path. One powerful bird.

Imagine you're in real life. I know it's hard, but imagine it. Now go over to someone's backyard and kill their puppy. They freak out, don't they? I mean, they call the cops and everything. Just for killing a puppy! It's crazy. I know if someone came into my town and started shooting chickens indiscriminately, the police would be the least of his problems.

Seriously, people freak out in Skyrim if they notice you're committing a crime. Doesn't matter what the crime is, they still freak out. Steal a cheese wheel and people freak out. Kill a chicken and they freak out exactly the same.

And why the hell are you killing chickens anyway? This is a roleplaying game, not a kill-anything-that-moves game. What sort of f*cked up backstory does your character have that he acts surprised that people get upset when he kills their chickens? Did his mom drop him on his head as a baby?

I'm with Brandybuck up to the point where chickens, horses, and cows can be witnesses (and apparently testify) to your crimes, including, but not limited to, killing one of their kind. It's hysterical, but also somewhat annoying at the same time. For instance, when you're sneaking, walk right next to a guard, but a chicken spots you and tells the guard you're about to pickpocket him.

Moral of the story, don't mess with people's stuff, including their livestock. But also don't try to break into their homes if their chickens can see you.

Next TES they will dress chickens in guard uniforms.
