QUEST: “A Trace Of Aetherium” will not complete

I received the quest by the messenger in Riverwood and followed all the 4 steps. Step-5 says to “find Synearil’s Shrine”. Okay, I’m in High Hogarth at the Talos shrine. There is a little box to the right. The green arrow (marker) is on the Talos statue.

Nothing happens. I’ve put into the box the fragment of aetherium, the shroud, and a million gold – still nothing happens. The quest will not complete.

I’ve used the console command (TCL) to fly around above, inside, and under the statue since sometimes that will hit an ACTIVATE switch (like open-close-pray-fart-something). Nothing.

Normally I don’t post an entry without first doing my homework. I’ve spent an hour on the WIKI and web and looks like others (back in 2012) had the same problem – with ZERO answers. I signed onto my Nexus mods to see if perhaps a mod was causing the problem. Nope. Nothing. Can’t find the QUEST-ID so I can terminate it.

Is this a dead end? Thanks for your thoughts.

Yes - my level was 82 and I killed that dragon before doing the quest.

Did you even read the post by the author on page 3? He states the shout "Fos Ro Dah" aimed at the box is the trigger.

Hi Jabroni, very sorry for the delay in getting back to you - been quite busy with work.

Do you see a little offering box next to the shrine? (Looks like a small dwemer chest). It's a puzzle to figure out what to do next based on some information you can read about in the book "A Treatise on the Dovah Mir"

Thank you there Mr CFS111! You're an officer and a gentleman in taking the time to explain this. The shout at the box worked immediately and the quest was completed.

My bad: there are so many books to read and most of them just ramble on & on. I'll be more attentive next time.

i used fus ro dha shout on the dwarven chest but nothing happen. what did i do wrong ?
also please don't tell me " you stupid noob you can just read the book and you can find the soluton" or "read the comment on the original mod" because I already did that and i didn't find anything.
