[GameBreaking Bug] Stuck at first execution?
So the guy at the beginning who gets executed, he just stands there in front of the executioner, he say's his two lines but then just stands there forever. Nothing else, I've tried reloading countless times, disabling mods, opening Skyrim (not SKSE), and nothing has worked. Please Help me out?

From the wiki:

The headsman may not carry out the first Stormcloak execution as scripted, which stops the script for your execution as well. This can be fixed by opening the console and typing prid 000654ed followed by kill. Alternatively, the guards and executioner may successfully execute the Stormcloak, but will do nothing to lead you to the block.

This is marked as an unconfirmed bug for an unmodded game. I'm not big on modding or troubleshooting. Perhaps somebody else can offer more insight if this doesnt fix things.

I'd rather not use the game console..it was not meant to be used to complete quests, it's a dev console, and it can bring you problems, only use it as a last resort.

I'm pretty sure it's a mod related bug, it would be helpful if you post your load order, have you also sorted it out with LOOT?

Another thing you can do, is walk up the stairs where aldis stands, and try to get on the execution plaform, this will be considered as a crime, the guards will turn hostile, but rogvir will be executed instantly, ofc you can yield, and pay off your bounty (it way better than using the console)
edit: If by any chance you cannot yield, just run out of guard's sights, until they won't pursue you anymore, chances are, you might not have to pay the bounty.

Well, yes I should have said the console is a last ditch effort. But I think they mean at Helgen, not Solitude, since they said its at the beginning.

Ow wow, lol xD

Yeah, you most definetly have a mod conflict...

Look, I don't want to sound like a jerk, but I don't understand why some people like starting a new game with 10,20,39,100 mods, it's just not practical! and it can screw up your game pretty fast.

Whenever I do start a new game, I have my mods to the minimum and include only the esential, like the unofficial patches, and optionally racemenu if I want to better shape my character.

After I'm done with the intro of the game, I will gradually enable my mods (mods that I ALREADY KNOW and tested mind you).

You should begin the game like this, you have absolutely NOTHING to lose..seriously.

Disable all your mods and then start a new game, make sure you haven't tampered with the .ini files as well.

One problem with your line of thought. I have zero mods loaded and I'm having the exact same problem. The prid/kill solution isn't working either. Le SIGH

Immersive armours will glitch the Helgen execution. Like that aswell as dragon mods

I know this is an old thread, but it still happens. In my case, the female Captain was simply missing when I first ran New Game. She wasn't visible and her lines didn't trigger. She normally pushes the Stormcloak to the ground so the Ax-Man can do his thing, but without her I think, the script didn't continue. I restarted and did a New Game, and this time she appeared. The SC lost his head, and all was right with the world.

You'd think after all this time that would be fixed. I also got the Wagon Bug big time.

I sometimes get a bug at that same scene, but mine is Alduin gets stuck in a landing loop...never attacking, just landing, taking off and landing again ad nauseum (yeah, resurrecting an old thread :P ). If anyone gets this (it happens to me mods or not)....I got around it by making a save right before he lands, loading that save broke the loop.

I had the same problem as @GoldSalamander (OP) and countless others, and it all coincided with the MIA female Imperial Captain (as mentioned by @etsubmariner) and the infamous wagon glitch. It turned out that the spaz-wagon had killed the Imperial Captain and her role in the sequence of events to come is crucial: she pushes us prisoners down to our hard-bent knees before the executioner's block and if she is prevented from doing so, we just stand around awkwardly until the end of time. Even if you use the console to kill off the first prisoner (prid 000654ED in the console, followed by kill as posted by @voehringer_nitron), the player won't get on his/her knees in front of the executioner's block without her assistance and trigger Alduin's interference.

Fix: Use the console to resurrect the Imperial Captain. In the console, type prid 000654F7 to target the Imperial Captain and hit ENTER. Then type resurrect and hit ENTER and close the console. Her corpse should reanimate on the spot.
NOTE: Using the "player.placeatme" command to place a copy of the Imperial Captain NPC next to you will NOT work (she will appear but won't participate in the execution) and neither will the "moveto player" command as she is dead.

I did this pretty much right after character creation (i.e. when you get off the wagon and receive your undeserved death sentence) but I'm sure the other NPC's are willing to wait indefinitely for the Imperial Captain to do her thing so it will probably work even if you're already standing in front of the executioner's block yourself after console-killing the first prisoner.

It would have been nice if the Imperial Captain NPC was simply made essential up until the point where Alduin appears......

Thank you very much, it helped me:cozyspaceengineersc:
This should be stickied somewhere. This happens to me about 1/2 the time (usually the carriage runs her over) and I never know her ID and just start over You may also need to hit her with an disable/enable command to get her to work. Wish I knew this years ago!

We are the 8th of August 2020, i bought Skyrim VR , no mods, wants to show it to my wife and we have the wagon stuck in a tree , new game , imperial captain Dead , stuck ....

How on Earth a company continuing to take our Money does not fix those bug that are in a non skippable scene that you have to endure. I mean i am a great fan of this game , played it 10 times but i HATE Helgen, i know that it can be modded but for now i have no MODS and have the Bugs

Thanks my Friend , I Did resurrect the Imperial Captain and it works.

Get Unofficial Skyrim Patch and Live Another Life, problem solved.

Bethesda always do bugs, as they always know that modders will mod them out.

Up to you what you play though.

What Shadow said, and fix the FPS by capping to 60 - exceeding that is the cause of the VAST majority of intro issues, and then you wouldn't need to do things like use console commands (which are not recommended in most cases except as a last resort - and should really NEVER be needed for fixing something in the intro - and probably is inadvisable as well - due to the scripting). Using a console command in the intro due to a bugout is just covering up the underlying issue without actually fixing it - as is using the console in many other cases, as well.

And also, if you have Skyrim VR, go to that forum: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR - https://steamcommunity.com/app/611670/discussions/
as that will ensure that you get the proper information, which may be different than what applies.s to Oldrim or SSE, and will help t keep you from borking the game due to receiving the wrong information bases upon the wrong game.

Guys, i did not want to sound too hard on Bethesda, i am 43 and played TES since Daggerfall.
So i have seen a few bugs :)
What i foundd disappointing is that it is a non interactive scene, i cannot move or act, it is like a video, and randomly after the Auto Save you can be stuck by a dead person that should be alive for the script.

Also it is the First Impressions of the game, as i have seen it through the eyes of my Wife today after NINE years of trying to make her interested in the game. (now it is dead forever i think)

Thank you , i know you are trying to help me and i WILL enjoy this game again with my expensive new VR device. Respects to the community.
