Load distance?
Any way to change my load distance (The distance at which objects, textures, items, AI load at)

Because it's kinda annoying having thing loading within 50 ft of you, especially if your trying to hunt some game.

This is a very old post. But the methods described still work.

EDIT: Not even a Cray super computer could handle uGridsToLoad at 11

The Skyrim Distance Overhaul (S.D.O.) adds thousands of polygon-reduced objects to the distant-LOD of Skyrim to improve LOD quality (see the screenshots). The fps drop is pretty small but (as always) depending on settings and hardware, everyone will have different results.

Additional Information:
- The "Full-LOD Morthal Swamp Complete.esp" does reduce FPS extremely. I definitely recommend the "Light.esp"
- take a look at the following mods for even better distant LOD :
• High Quality LODs by Ethatron
• SkyFalls - Animated Distant Waterfalls by SjoertJansen
- If you use the SDO together with SkyFalls and SkyMills, install the "SkyFalls and SkyMills Patch" listed in the files section. Do not use the SkyFalls/Mills optional "New Skyrim LOD".
• AOF HD Tree LODs by AnOldFriend
• Enhanced Distant Terrain 2 by SparrowPrince
• Enhanced Distant Terrain by SparrowPrince
- Tamriel.Objects.dds & Tamriel.Objects_n.dds need to get overwritten (NMM will normally do this for you) - otherwise you will have some weird LOD-Textures.

There may be a better mod lot of info on the link and skyrim gems might have some better info.

Well, if you already have all the view distance options turned up to the max, the only other thing you can do is to increase the ugridstoload value. Most people here though would say to not use it.

However, if you are feeling adventurous, try setting the value to 7.
Been there. Done that. Got the T-Shirt. If you have a good PC it's not much of an issue. If you have an older model, you might have serious issues.

I used to have ugridstoload 7 like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Try the sliders in the Options section of the Launcher first.

It's not entirely based upon how good your PC is. It'll obviously be more performance intensive at a higher ugrids value, but there's nothing you can do if there are simply too many scripts. It also takes more memory, which, again, can't be helped. The memory tweak only serves to postpone the issue, it doesn't eliminate it.

DynDOLOD is a better choice for distance detail IF your system can handle it. The install looks a lot more complicated than it is. Find a tutorial and follow along (if you need to) it's really super simple and blows anything else like it away. It DYNAMICALLY generates the LODs according to what YOUR Skyrim looks like. This means that it takes into account any ladnscape overhauls, mod added structures, towns, etc. Even you Hearthfire homes will appear AS YOU BUILT THEM. Look closely between and behind the farm and windmill:
