Is there a BIG difference between level 51 and 81?
So I've finally got an idea for a character im going to start playing. (Swordmaster- 1h duel wield, 2h block, smithing, light armor)

BUT...
I calculated how many perks I will need to get the skills I need and its 50 (Level 51)
After i reach a certain point of the game I am going to use console commands to level him up to 51 so I dont have to worry about using trainers or smithing 500 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ iron daggers. I have a full time job and take some classes at a JC so I'd rather not waste the little play time I have worrying about leveling up.

Now Im looking at 2 options

OPTION 1- Set my remaining skills to 100 using console commands, that way im locked at level 51 and can play as a true Swordmaster

OPTION 2- Boost to level 81 and throw some of the extra perks into minor skills I use like sneak or lockpicking. Im kinda leaning on boosting to level 81 so I can just quest to my hearts content and not have to worry about stat distrabution

My BIG question is, is the difference between level 51 and 81 that big? I know the mobs scale to your level but is there any other big changes that I can miss and or make a big difference?

I also dont plan on making skills legendary, I personally hate that system.

Thoughts?

Besides them scaling and being harder to kill no

The biggest difference will be in how much Health/Mana/Stamina you have. Obivously, you will have more at level 81 than 51. Beyond that, not much. Of course, if you go with 81, Legendary Dragons will have a better chance of spawning than they would if you are level 51, and in that case, more Health/Mana/Stamina is always good.

Other than that, unless you use mods that effect difficulty and/or leveled lists, you probably wont notice a big difference if your plan is to cap yourself out, be it at 51 or 81.

I think if you lock yourself to 51 your will miss out on the ebony warrior (dragonborn dlc), he i believe makes an appearance at level 80. You may also miss out on Legendary dragons as they appear level 78 onwards.

As for enemies scaling with you, i believe enemies stop scaling with you at level 50 and there they remain. However if you go up to level 80, your Health, Magicka and Stamina totals will be stronger than at 50 even if you don't add anymore armour/weapon perks, so you will be a stronger character overall.

This is not true. There is actually 1 single enemy that will always scale to your level....

Enter the Magic Anomaly...their level scale is your level times 1.75, infinitely...so yeah...gg

Yep, and because they can always spawn as part of a Radiant quest given by Tolfdir, they are always an option to fight and test just how much damage you can do......eh...and how much health they have lol...

The biggest difference would be unlocking all of the highest level enemies, including the Ebony Warrior, without experiencing the in-betweens. It will also probably become quite boring, more like putting yourself in god mode without the benefit of earning it. This kills satisfaction and sense of accomplishment, I think. To me, the playthrough would become quite boring very quickly, but to each his own. Since all of Skyrim levels with you, difficulty shouldn't change.

You can absolutely play your character without the perks, acquiring them on a more "legitimate" basis. Having, acquiring, the perks does not define the playstyle, nor the roleplaying experience.

there is no level cap, you can level an infinitely amount of times

Well one of the reasons im using console is that I already legitimatly got to level 81 on xbox360 and its not like i can transfer saves. I also hit level 81 legit again on PC but the save got deleted for some reason. The other reason is i literally dont have the time to go throught the level up process again

Uh, actually, you can:

edit:

It's not about "legitimacy" of what you've done as the player, it's about the experience of building the character. If you just 81 the char, there's basically nothing else for you to RP as anything experienced from thereon will be very weak and virtually meaningless in terms of accomplishment. But, maybe not for you, so, to each his own. You can, however, get your XBox char on to PC if that's important to you.

Also, if your saves "disappeared", there are two main reason I can think of. You deleted Skyrim and saves and reinstalled without having cloud saves. Or, you installed MO and moved your saves out of their traditional place, but they're still on your machine. (Try searching *.ess on your HDD.)

I have to agree, the character evolution is the game. I've made a few characters that I consoled up to silly high levels and got bored super quick.

Level 50 is the soft level cap where rewards and enemies reach max levels. 81 is the theoretical maximum if all skills hit 100 and unlocks the ebony warrior to test you (who can be killed in one hit on legendary difficulty). Going higher is going in to the realms of extreme bs and it's gets boring for sure.

The legendary system thing is kinda good and bad for me. It means I can use only the skills I like to keep levelling up, but on the other hand - where do you stop? It just gets silly.

I personally hope to see a levelling system similar to fallout 3 and NV in the next elder scrolls game. You just get xp for kills and missions (which encourages exploration and quest completion) and put skill points and perks in to whatever you want. The skyrim way with all the having to use specific skills to level up encourages excessive grinding and makes quests feel uniportant with the crap rewards. At least if you got a ton of xp for it you wouldn't feel so bad, but the system doesn't support it :(
