CTD seemingly due to Animated Armoury
I have recently downloaded Animated Armoury and tried both the stadard edition and DAR edition. I have had more sizeable mods on like Immersive Weapons and Immersive Armor and I have barely had any CTDs because of them. I used FNIS, FNIS PCEA2, XPMS, Nemesis, Dual Sheath Redux, and all the while I used Animated Armoury the game crashed either in approximately 30 seconds, or upon opening inventories or spell menu.

works fine for me and I have all the mods you have, try only using FNIS or nemesis don't use both

I think Nemesis is better I use that even though it says it needs FNIS you can ignore that it works fine with Nemesis
Now I do not know what to do. I tried playing Skyrim with only these mods on:

Skyrim.esm=1
Update.esm=1
Dawnguard.esm=1
HearthFires.esm=1
Dragonborn.esm=1
Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.esp=1
HighResTexturePack01.esp=1
HighResTexturePack02.esp=1
HighResTexturePack03.esp=1
SkyUI.esp=1
VioLens.esp=1
NewArmoury.esp=1
Gauntlet Armor - Vanilla.esp=1

And it still crashed, this time even quicker than before.

Do you have skse installed? Its a requirement for skyUI. If you're using mod organizer, you can't install it through that; you have to manually install it into your skyrim folders for it to work. Its on of the few things that must be actually installed to work.

Does your game crash if you remove skyUI? Remove your mods one by one and see when your game stops crashing. With such a short load order, you should be able to find it quickly.

The way to test your load order is NOT by removing mods, This is the proper way to test:

Yes, make sure you have SKSE installed. And also add the Memory fix, if you have not already:

Also, if you had mods on a previous playthrough, there may be some files left over, so see this as well:

You don't look for verification: you look for falsification.

Just for an example, I finally decided to fix a cell border crash I was having. I eliminated my mods one by one (starting a new game each time to check if I still crashed at the cell borders in question). After going through my entire load order, I found that not ONE single mod was responsible. The only pattern I found, was that the likelihood of a crash was dictated by how much data my enabled mods took up. I later found an issue to my problem, by using a fix originally made for New Vegas, but apparently works fine in other creation kit games (I've been using it for a few months now, and haven't had another crash, beside this one time I was screwing around on a test profile and forgot to enable that mod).

Now, what might have happened if I instead enabled mods one by one? Well, the crashes were dictated by how many mods I had enabled, so I wouldn't have been able to get a crash if I had only a few installed. What would've happened is I would've just removed the first mod where I got a crash if it was enabled, unaware that it wasn't actually responsible. Keep in mind, I suffered from this problem for probably more than a year. I kept removing mods, only for the crashes to re-emerge over and over again. Its what prompted me to finally just test my entire load order one by one. Before, I was just doing that thing where you disable half your load order at a time until you find the problem; this was giving me false positives over and over, which is why I'll never do that again.

So no, don't enable your mods one by one; disable them one by one. And don't do the thing where you disable half your load order and see if the issue continues; that threw me off from the actual cause of my problem for a YEAR. Of course, in my case, the crashes were random, so even if I crossed a cell border with all my mods enabled, I could still cross without getting a crash. I seriously thought for a while that turning off the AI let me cross, but actually it didn't; I just got lucky the first several times doing that.

Besides, looking at this load order, its almost certainly skyUI, given that the other mods as far as I know aren't reported to cause problems like this. My first guess at least is he has skyUI installed but not SKSE.

Sorry, Blackwolf, but as usual, you are wrong. Am not going to even argue with you about it, as there is nothing to argue about. People can look at our respective Profiles and Posts and check relevant pinned topics and determine whom to listen to and whose advice to heed for themselves.

Also, the issue you describe that you had, was not a mod issue, it was a system/hardware issue (unless, of course, you were exceeding the plugin limit, in which case it was a user issue) - which also goes a long way to explain all the problems you had with SSE.

And that is all I will add regarding this. Sorry for the Sidetrack, Warmaster.

And, Warmaster, if you are relatively new to the forums It can be confusing to determine whom to listen to. In the pinned topic Helpful Links and References, see Section 6, Miscellaneous - Reliable Forum Regulars, for a list and explanation

Thank you for the advice on the Load Order. I'll try it in the meantime, I have spent two days on trying to resolve the CTD and it did not appear to me to start a clean save and add mods later.

You shouldn't be using Nexus Mod Manager. It hasn't been updated in years, and is no longer being supported. That's because it creates issues itself. Mod authors are often unwilling to help people who use it, because the manager itself causes so many problems.

I know how hard it can be to switch mod managers when you've already got a highly elaborate load order, but you really need to do it. Just be thankful you don't have a load order of over 200 mods to transfer like I did. I only gave up on NMM myself when I switched back to LE, since SE had become beyond unusable for me. I've never looked back.

What mod manager would you recommend?
smr1957 Apr 20, 2021 @ 10:36am
You should use either Vortex or MO2 - both are excellent managers. (Vortex may be easier to transition to, as well as being able to be used for almost any game which Nexus has mods for, MO2 is limited to just Bethesda games, though they recently started to expand their capabilities.) Furthermore, considering that you are asking that, I would strongly suggest that you read the following:

Excellent advice regarding modding Skyrim (essay written by PeggleFrank - a little outdated, but the basic principles still apply)

Player and Modding Resources (PINNED TOPIC) by Ilja http://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/594821545176386165/
VERY IMPORTANT if you wish to successfully mod your game

And refer to this resource (PINNED TOPIC) for links to guides, tutorials, vids, and other important information:
HELPFUL LINKS AND REFERENCES
http://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/1482109512314623696/

And finally, start small - just add a few mods at a time, test, and then play for a while to ensure there are no issues - don't fall into the trap of adding a bunch of mods and then trying to play. And, very important!!! For most mods, once they are added, they cannot be removed and play continued on that save - you have to roll back to a save made before that removed/disabled mod was installed, or start a new game - absolutely no ifs, ands, or buts about it. So make sure you make a manual save before adding anything, and save often (manually) while playing, so you can roll back to a previous save if necessary. (For why you cannot remove/disable mods midplaythrough, see: You CANNOT Remove Mods Mid-Playthrough - http://steamcommunity.com/app/489830/discussions/0/1520386297681801135/ )

If you have any questions, or are unsure of something, just ask in the forum first - it is easier to prevent a problem than it is to fix one - especially where Skyrim is concerned.

ONE MORE THING: It can be confusing to determine whom to listen to on these forums, especially for someone new. In the pinned topic Helpful Links and References, see Section 6, Miscellaneous - Reliable Forum Regulars, for a list and explanation

That is the standard cut and paste advice that is given to all.

Mod Organizer 2 is the one I use, note you need to get it on the SE page. Despite this, it'll work for any game. The LE page has an outdated version that hasn't been updated for a while.

I've also heard of Vortex, though it may still be in development (its a successor to NMM). I think Mod Organizer is the most popular, and has been for quite a few years. It works by tricking your game to think any mods installed in it are installed into its own files. Since it doesn't actually put anything into your skyrim folders, it helps avoid a lot of the issues NMM causes (particularly when you remove mods). It also lets you have multiple mod profiles, with their own save files too, thus allowing you to have multiple different playthroughs with different load orders going simultaneously. Its quite nice. With NMM, I had to just keep installed any mod I could possibly use in any of my playthroughs. With Mod Organizer, I can just install the mods that are actually relevant to each character, greatly decreasing the size of my load orders.

Note though that its a bit of a trick to install things like skse and enbs through mod organizer; you should look up a tutorial for that. Its pretty easy to find since Mod Organizer is so popular.
