Modded Skyrim CTD when fast travelling, loading whiterun, waiting, and going through doors.
When i load skyrim, it seems to work. (unless i load a save in whiterun) but as soon as i wait, or try to fast travel, or go inside, it crashes to the desktop. although sometimes i can go inside or wait, but it will soon crash afterwards. How can I find the cause?
This is the very last line of my Papyrus log: :22PM] USKP 2.0.6 Retroactive Updates Complete
[08/24/2016 - 10:12:22PM] USKP 2.0.7 Retroactive Updates Complete

[08/24/2016 - 10:12:23PM] [skyBirds]Updated 1302 factions.

it's at this exact moment that it crashes.

This time, I managed to inside, then outside again, fast travel to pelagia farm, then after a few seconds, CTD.

this is the last line:

Anybody know what is causing this?
Thanks in advance!

Might try to toggle off save on fast travel etc make your own hard or named saves.

Do you have a mod or something like "automatic lightswitch"? TES5edit should help.

Be nice to have your LOOTED mod list.

I have turned off those settings, so I have ruled out saving as the issue. And no, I'm pretty sure none of my mods relate to light switches. and I have TES5edit,but not sure how to use it. Here is the loot load order:

Last lines in Papyrus do not really tell us a thing. It records everything that happens in your game, but not every error is harmful or relevant. Thing is that Papyrus does not usually record the last script that ran before crashing. It is more of a modding myth than a fact that crashes could be determined from that.

Thus notes about SkyBirds and Light Switches may be entirely irrelevant and by no means related to your crashes.

If you post Papyrus log, then post a full log to pastebin or other service. We can then look for relevant problems that may cause problems. However, even experienced modders and mod authors may have a very hard time to figure out what the heck is going on from Papyrus logs. It is mostly used by mod authors to watch over if their own scripts were running, halted, spamming or skipped.

I can see few outdated mods (UFO and old versions of Unofficial Patches), but nothing else jumps out.

Try this, in case that this is just a memory management issue. I can see several grass mods in your game and they may be taxing your memory on load.

SKSE, memory and skse.ini

If that did not help, then move to USLEEP, replace UFO with some up to date follower mod and try this with a new game.

You can use ASLAL to skip the intro and test your mods. If you need to start a new game entirely and wish to go through Helgen, then ASLAL has an option to do that.

Thanks mate, I was looking for a way to skip the intro, and the only way i found was by downloading a save game after that point. But anyway thanks a lot for the help, and next time i'm online i'll give these suggestions a shot! I should mention that my grass is very thick (15). Also, I had a suspicion that I could be hitting the Windows 10 direct x 9 memory limit of 4gb. But I tested with a program, which told me skyrim was only using about 3.5gbs. I am considering installing windows 7 as a duel boot to see if it runs better there. btw, the crashes started quite suddenly. It was going perfectly fine, then BAM, the crashing started. I even tried removing recent mods, to no avail.

Nothing else really stands out. Load up your entire modlist in TE5Edit and go through every single mod to check for record conflicts.

Grass mods confuse me and they almost never end with the result i want, so i usually just end up installing loads in random orders until it looks right, haha. Once it looks good i jusy leave it alone or i will mess it up!

Ah, no, not a really good long term plan. THAT usually bites me in the butt sooner or later.

i do use skse btw, so ill try your other suggestions when i get back on my computer in a day or 2.

So, you are already using the memory fix from it?

I reckon. Isn't it included by default?
nuttapillar Aug 26, 2016 @ 10:33pm
And Hitokiri, I'm pretty sure that the brawl bug fix i have is a requirement of another mod, which is why I have it.
smr1957 Aug 27, 2016 @ 12:40am
Memory fix for SKSE is not included - you must create it -
SKSE memory fix. Should be in SKSE folder (Skyrim/Data/SKSE):
skse.ini (text file)

[General]
EnableDiagnostics=1
ClearInvalidRegistrations=1
[Display]
iTintTextureResolution=2048
[Memory]
defaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
scrapHeapSizeMB=256

Just create a text file using notepad and paste in the above info, save as skse.ini (no .txt, or will not load), and paste text file into the SKSE folder.

As smr1957 explained. The post I linked above to reply #3 was made to explain what this memory tweak is, how it is activated and what the values you see here actually do.

Skyrim will crash when it hits 3.1g system ram every time. I tested this last time I did a clean install (loaded with some mods to push ram) to see if it was true or not. It would most often crash because of a ram spike while turning (loading polygons).

You will also need an enb or enboost. It forces vram first keeping your system ram low and out of range.

Skyrim performance monitor-
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6491/?
For MO users you need to link it to MO's exe. It will handle the rest.

Enboost-
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/73618/?

With your specs you are probably better off with a graphical enb though.
If you are still crashing it isn't memory related. Random ctds usually are though.
ScareBear Aug 27, 2016 @ 5:45am
To put it into perspective. My current load order is repeatedly kicking my card (750ti) in the nuts.

After a romp around solitude and the plains around whiterun avg. system ram use = 750mb

All this abuse and crashes are very rare. My poor gpu :(
