What is ENB?
I was looking to see if Skyrim runs on windows 10 ok (installing right now) and some people say that they're having problems with ENB. What is it?

I think it's a graphics enhancement or something. I haven't got any mods so I probably won't have any problems.

They say someone's name is someone's wish, I'm afraid this whole thread proves it. No I do not intend to insult. Here for a more detailed explanation.

You cannot really blame the OP entirely for asking, what I found on Google mostly didn't provide a clear answer, and forums I stumbled into drifted to joke threads, Extreme Neurological Badassification or Evil Noodles with Bacon they said. The S.T.E.P link I provided hides in sub-link of a website.

Thanks for that link. I was reading it and got confused. Do I need it for skyrim to run?

Edit: I get it now. It's so the availible memory does't fill up when mods are installed. Right?

Typical tech-savvy style of writing. I envy them.

TL;DR

It did a workaround the limitation of 32bit Skyrim, allowing it to "use" more RAM, breaking the 3.2 GB limit. This is called ENBoost.
The ENBSeries is just a framework that allows users to enhance graphics of the game. You need a preset to actually change the game visuals, mostly found in Nexus modding site.
Some, if not most ENBs can kill framerates on med-low systems, there's even one that looks like a movie but plays like Skyrim. With the cost of even lower framerates. Only the latest graphics cards can run it smoothly. Take caution when choosing a preset.

Note:

- Manual installation only
- Nexus is entirely free, the premium account is optional with the benefit of Advertisement disabling and premium servers.

Thank you! You're very helpful. When I do get mods I will need one right? Is there one that works good on windows 10?

Yea I realised too late that due to my preferences google had enbdev as the first result, I thought it would be the same for everyone

Please refer to these when you have problems, you can find these threads in the Pinned Thread section of Skyrim Discussions, first page. Take a look at this guide as well.

I believe as long the game runs fine with Windows 10, all mods will work. I'm a Windows 10 user myself.

No, you don't need any ENB to run mods.
