Whiterun freeze.
When i go to whiterun (only in certain times of the day) the game freezes. usually it happens when i enter the gate then you can see all the npc's walking down the stairs together. Almost like it is just too much for the game to handle. I am not sure if it happens in other cities because the only other cities ive been to are dawnstar and morthal so not gone through any gates.

As i said though it only happens at certain times during the day, ive done some googling and a lot of people have had this issue, i am just hoping that someone has any actual fix by now after the game has been out for so long. And yeah i'm running mods but maybe only 30 or 40. I have 16 gig of ram and 8 gig gpu.

can we see your mod load order? It's possible it's some mods causing the problem

Sure thing. I was thinking it might be that with 3DNPC it has too many people in Whiterun but there's really not that many more people there than vanilla. and after doing some googling i found that a lot of people experienced CTD's or freezes in or around Whiterun or when fast travelling to Whiterun. When i travel there i load in, i can walk around or talk to Lydia for maybe a minute and people are walking around and then it freezes.

When it freezes i can't alt-tab i have to ctrl-alt-delete and restart the system, i'd pretty much prefer a CTD.

From looking at your load order, though you do not have that many mods, you do have a fair number that add NPCs and/or enhance existing ones. Due to the large number of NPCs in Whiterun, anything extra may result in problems with, as you thought, overtaxing the game. One thing you can try is the SKSE memory fix:

SKSE, memory and skse.ini by Ilja - http://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/540740500921363665/

Also, using ENBoost may also help:

These should be the first things you should try.

Thanks for the reply, i am already running ENBoost. I am considering just by trial and error avoiding entering the city at certain hours of the day. I really dont want to though.

Install this:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/106929

Then let the game crash where it's supposed to. Open the Skyrim folder where TESV.exe is located and you should see a text file called crash_xxxx where xxxx is the date and time. Please paste the contents of that file here.

I definitely will if it happens again but i think i fixed it (or i read a way to fix it) i should have tested things out individually. So first thing i did was to change the ReservedMemorySizeMB to 1024. Then i pressed F4 when i loaded into whiterun as i read on ENB boost somewhere that it helps. Problem solved......for now as i got like 4 hours gaming out of it without a problem, tomorrow i will try again without pressing F4 and if it crashes then i will post results here.

And thanks for that btw because i followed steps to turn on papyrus and try to find a crash log or some sort of log and nothing was generated. will dl now.

Yes, F4 clears the cache and can help with memory problems. And the larger ReservedMemorySize of 1024 is better for more memory intensive load orders. Congrats on getting things fixed! Hope it's smooth sailing from now on - enjoy!

Thanks to you and CoolingGibbon for responding to my request. I always liked the Skyrim community on Steam, seems to draw a much nicer crowd.
