Changing a follower's location, have a quick question
Hey so I downloaded a follower the other day and like 99% of the followers on the nexus she spawns in the riverwood inn. problem is i already have like 4 cubic tons of followers in the inn and whenever i install this one i get the infinate loading screen trying to go into the inn and when i uninstall it it goes back to working again.

I know nothing about CK but I can work TES5 Edit enough to understand some of it, my question is can I change the followers spawn cell in tes5edit? like just copy the cell location from another follower for example and paste it in her spawn cell? I dont think she has any quests or anything so it wouldint break anything right? and if I have to use ck can someone give me a quick explanation on how to just change her spawn location?

thanks

Second, do you have ENBoost installed:

(ENBoost is not needed if you are using an ENB)

The aboves will help fix memory issues, which are one of the causes of infinite load screens.

Finally, It may be that there is just a problem with that mod. Furthermore, you would be best advised NOT to try to change the spawn location. If you have a problem with a mod, or too many followers spawning in one location, you trim the mod load or get rid of the problematic mod. Attempting to do anything else, unless you are extremely experienced, will just result in problems - up to and including breaking your game.

First you gotta try loading TES5Edit once. It will show any errors if there are any.

Having multiple followers spawn in a location isn't always caused by 'too many followers' Try Crashfixes v12, CTD loading fix and continue game no crash mods first. And make sure you follow the STEP guide. ( http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.10.0 )

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725/ (Crash fixes v12)
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85443/ (Load game CTD fix)
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/78557/ (continue game no crash)
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51038/ (SKSE ini )

Also, get MO. You would be able to see if your followermod would conflict with another mod.

If that doesn't help you..

You can open the follower mod into CK and pickup from "Placing the actor" ( https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Bethesda_Tutorial_Creating_an_Actor )

You can also make a mod override with TES and edit the World space interior or exterior with the location you want.

Optional : If you need to load multiple masters
https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1010475-running-multiple-master-files-in-creation-kit/page-3#entry10246046

You could also try moving directly to your follower with player.moveto BASEID. If you don't know this ID, check TES5Edit or run save funclist 1 in console and wait until a textfile loads up, then hit CTRL F and search for your followers name. If that doesn't work, use player.placeatme refID to place them at your feet.

You could move some of them in game using Amazing Follower Tweaks and/or My Home Is Your Home.

If you have a ton of followers it's a good idea to have one or both of those anyway.

Also test the follower by itself. It might just be broken. I had one that would crash the game just by itself.

Take the advice of someone who has a completely stable 1300 mod game and several thousand hours in xEdit. DON'T ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE SPAWN LOCATIONS!

As to the other advice in Standy's post:
crash fixes often courses more problems than it fixes - NOT recommended.
Continue Game No Crash - is obsolete - it says so right on the description page
Load game CTD fix - not sure about this - CTDs on load are usually caused by mod issues. This sounds more like a placebo to me.
SKSE .ini tweak is covered in the first link I posted.

And forget about the step guide - It is useless unless you are doing everything it says - as well as its containing inaccuracies.

Amazing Follower Tweaks is outdated and may cause issues - if you want a follower mod, use either of the following:
Extensible Follower Framework - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12933
Immersive Amazing Follower Tweaks - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71689
