No I do not have any mods, but I have tried installing SKSE for the memory fix to see if it would help. The crashes continue even with the memory fix. I removed it since it made no difference.
I only have the base Skyrim game with none of the DLC. Was planning on getting the DLC but I first want the base game to work properly.
The event viewer shows no game crash event, only that the system has shutdown unexpectedly.

Anyone have an idea of what it might be?
Follow the following steps carefully and we'll see if it works or not.
1. Download Crash Fixes by meh321 here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725/?
2. Open the download. Continue opening files within the download until you get to three files that all say CrashFixPlugin.
3. Open your SKSE Plugins folder. This should be located in Steam/Steamapps/Common/Skyrim/Data/SKSE.
4. Place all files labled CrashFixPlugin into the Plugins folder in the SKSE folder.
5. Open the file labled CrashFixPlugin.ini in the Plugins folder.
6. Look for something called "UseOSAllocators". Make sure the number is set to 1 and not 0.
7. Download SKSE Plugin Preloader by meh321 and sheson here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/75795/?tab=2&navtag=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D75795&pUp=1
8. Place the files within the download into your Skyrim root directory located in Steam/Steamapps/Common/Skyrim.
Boot game and see if there's any crashes. Good luck.
EDIT: Just realized this was two months ago. OP, you still having trouble?
Thanks for this, but I did manage to get it to run properly. Turns out downclocking my GPU solved my skyrim issues. Odd as I only need to downclock for Skyrim, all other games work fine. Realise I should have marked this as solved a month ago when I got it to work, but thanks for this anyway!
Didn't overclock my gpu though. Was on standard settings.
And let the system clock it self instead of setting any value. Only put it on auto.
That part did work for me on my HD7850.
Ah, alright, glad you got it working. And thanks for mentioning how you fixed it. That will help those that are researching ways to fix their Skyrim.
I know its been 3 years since this was posted, but my god thank you. Ive been dealing with crashes for about a month now trying to get Skyrim to work but it seems you have done the trick, thanks!
It would be awesome if anyone could guide me on how to fix this.
