And this is a discussion best suited for the Skyrim forum, not the general Steam Discussion forum since it is a game question.
For me it was daggers through most of it as I leveled enchanting at the same time. That is how I made most my money too. Create dagger, enchant, sell. Value was over 250 gold per a dagger and it cost less then that for the materials to make it and enchant it.
Also, get the standing stone 'Warrior' near Riverwood as that increases smithing 20% faster. Also, get a good nights sleep to get the 'Well Rested' perk to increase it faster.
Heathfire homes are also a good way to level up smithing as it requires making lots of nails, hinges, locks etc.
Also, doing the quest for the argonian in Riften (cant remember the name but it involves taking a dwemer cube and placing it in a dwemer ruin) gives you the Ancient Knowledge perk which helps smithing.
Dwarven metal ingots is also good, as you find lots of dwarven scrap in Markarth, smelt it down, and make lots of dwarven gear.
Orcish and Nordic bows are probably your best bet currently, as they're fairly valuable items with simple resource requirements. Once you hit 80 skill, Ebony bows will take you the rest of the way to 100.
I suppose I could try to make jewelry AND enchant them for more value as well.

Save the skill books until last if you can.
The best way to level up smithing is to sharpen every weapon you get, and temper every piece of armour. It still takes a long time, but it doesn't wreck your game, and you still get there. If you have hearthfires dlc then making nails, iron fittings and hinges also improves your smithing skill, and you can use them to build up your hose (or furniture).
