SSME - Skyrim Startup Memory Editor (Amazing patch for contstant CTD sufferers)
Hey guys,

I know that modding Skyrim can be one hell of a chore. I've spent a few hours today searching for a way to fix my CTD's on the overworld when moving between areas. I targeted my VRAM, uninstalled a bunch of flora mods to reduce memory usage, but all of came with mixed results. In other words, crashes.

I've found an incredible tool recently that's literally been a game changer. By the way, I'm sure many of you have already seen this, but I'm really posting this for those, like me (up until a few hours ago), who haven't yet and are stuggling.

Here it is:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/?

It's such a simple install. Read up if you're worried/concerned whether your crashes are imapcted by this. Is it a garenteed fix? No, but I was able to run around Skyrim at twice the normal sprint speed and I didn't crash once. I had a few load stutters, and some missing textures (like only three) in really instense areas, but apart from that nothing happened.

I'm running a pretty intesne ENB (Vividian), and I was also able to re-install the Flora Overhaul. I'm running WATER Two and a bunch of other texture mods. All in all, pretty intensive. The fact it didn't crash once from my stress-test amazed me. However, keep in mind that I've got a GTX 1080, so I don't know if the power of my card helped with the memory - though it most definitley did with my VRAM. Obviously, you should be running the mods that you can handle. If you are and you still get crashes, I still highly suggest looking at this patch.

I just hope one of you finds this and can use it, hopefully to fix their game as it has mine. Good luck lads. Solidarity for all of us still modding this incredible game.

SSME is obsolete - it has been replaced (and is included in) the SKSE memory fix.

SKSE is needed for a lot of mods, also, by using the Memory fix, it helps prevent infinite load screens and CTD due to memory issues. With this installed, you do not need Safety Load or SSME - Skyrim Startup Memory Editor. For more information, see also:

I found my ctds were often from dirty mods . however sometimes it was not sometimes uninstalling and installing mods too much can corrupt your game completely. also if you install some texture mods too ..at least this is my experience cause I wondered why my game kept hanging and freezing when my mods were clean and sorted so I reinstalled my game from fresh and did away with the all in one for vivid landscape and only got 2 of their mods and stuck with amidianborn my crashing stopped think vivid all in one clashed with aMidian cause some of their meshes or textures didn't work well my only conclusion I can come up with why my game hung when I used them together.
