EDIT: Does it change after the prologue or something?
To me this is a far better argument, though I see no reason it shouldn't be added, I just personally don't find it difficult at all. If you were playing as the MIN or w/e it'd be realistic to just be like "you are the autopilot" but since we're the captain, I have to agree.
Correct!! As the captain why am I flying my ship like a fighter? Many of these space games that claim to have"simulator" properties, suffer technological inconsistencies. Auto docking and even autopilot should be a nonissue. I suggest incorporating a skill level where the more the crew learn, the less hands on the player needs to be when in command. And if the crew member is lost somehow, then visa versa. Micromanage initialy, as ship crew, captain, and level up, this becomes a secondary command option.Workarounds could include ship mods or upgrades that are ship specific and/or crew recruitment/requisition at cost. I think a lot of dev miss the chance to make good game great because they miss the nuances.
I wish this had been explained better. I kept trying to dock with the floating circle that says "Dock #", "Slow Down", "Stop". Took me about 10 minutes to realize the faded blue cone was what I was ACTUALLY supposed to be docking with.
Maybe if the attached indicator was in the light, it would be clearer on which side we need to go.
I'm in favor of auto-docking because it's expected. When your near the dock, the game auto slow down the ship and then the approach feels awkward and there are some collision issues where the ship is teleported through the station...
There is not enough depth to movement, physics or variety in ships & stations to justify doing that over and over.
It's not as bad as like... lockpickign in SKyrim, but still in the long run not good enough to justify not having 'autodock' option.
