How do you make your auto targeting focus the nearest target?
When I turn on auto targeting, it just seems to randomly pick a ship. Often it will pick the target furthest away from me (which is not helpful) yet I cannot see another way to change it's target short of manually aiming for myself.

Is there a way to do this?

Actually, what I'm really looking for is a target lock button. Is there one? This would seem like a massive oversight if they didn't include it...

zoom in with right click over an enemy ship, wait for the gauge to fill completely and your auto aim will track that target.

But missiles still have to be 'manually' guided in even after you've 'locked on' to the target?

A few days ago we fixed it. The missiles should be completely autonomous when you're in auto aim mode.

If you have a scanned ship they will fire to it, if not they will shoot to the nearest ship.

You have to equip missile launchers.
