I just bought the game and the game crashes. Try to restart Steam, then try to launch the game.

Game stuck to the logo screen (Windows only)
Disable your Antivirus AND Windows Defender then restart your computer

Game crash while loading/starting a game
This one is really weird since I don't know why it fixes the issue but here we are.
Open Steam, go to your library, right click on City Game Studio, select Property then go to the beta panel and select oldstable.
Close the panel, wait for the update.
Then go back to your library, right click on City Game Studio, select Property, then go to the beta panel and select None. Close the panel, wait for the update and launch the game.

Yes it is as weird as that...

Game stuck to the logo screen (Windows only)
Disable your anti-virus or whitelist CityGameStudio64.exe (or CityGameStudio32.exe).

Blinking/black screen on menu (Windows only)
Toggle the Vertical Sync from the options menu.

Everything's blurry (Windows only)
Enable VSync
Launch City game Studio, go to the option panel. Enable the VSync. Apply, then restart the game.
Still not working
Disable HDR, see this article from Kotaku (Windows + Alt + B)

Game won't start (Windows only)
Plug the monitor to the right port
Be sure that you have plugged your monitor to the right port behind your PC.

Finding out if your computer has more than one GPU. If you are unsure if your computer has one or more GPUs, you can easily check by opening the Device Manager[support.microsoft.com] and navigating to Display Adapters. Your GPU or GPUs will be shown there.
Switching to the dedicated Nvidia GPU
  • First, open the Nvidia Control Panel. One way to do that is right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop and choosing Nvidia Control Panel from the menu.
  • Navigate to 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings.
  • Open the tab Program Settings and choose the game from the dropdown menu.
  • Next, select the preferred graphics processor for this program from the second dropdown. Your Nvidia GPU should show as High performance Nvidia processor.

Finally, save your changes. Your game should now run with the dedicated Nvidia GPU.
Switching to the dedicated AMD GPU
  • First, open Radeon Settings. One way to do that is right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop and choosing Radeon Settings from the menu.
  • Navigate to Preferences > Additional Settings > Power > Switchable Graphics Application Settings.
  • Select the game from the list of applications. If it is not in the list, click the Add Application button and select the *.exe-file of the game from the game's installation directory. This adds the game to the list and you'll be able to select it afterwards.
  • In the column Graphics Settings, assign the High Performance profile to the game.

Finally, apply your changes. Your game should now run with the dedicated AMD GPU.

Crackling audio (Windows Only)
Start City Game Studio with the Surround mode

Crackling audio (Linux Only)
Ajust the -output_latency to 50 by setting a launch option. If it doesn't work you can also try to adjust the -mixer_latency

Invisible mouse (Windows Only)
  • Press Windows and X keys together and select Control Panel.
  • Click on Mouse.
  • Navigate to pointer options tab.
  • Under Visibility, uncheck the box which says display pointer trails.
  • Click on OK to close the window.

Steam cannot be reached
  • Log off from steam (do not close it, just log off)
  • Log on
  • Launch City Game Studio

Note: If it doesn't work, then restart Steam.

Still not working
  • Open mouse properties
  • Go to the Pointer Options tab
  • Uncheck Enhance Pointer Precision

Mouse position does not match with buttons (Windows only)
If you are using a Dell laptop with an intel iGPU, please update graphic drivers to the latest version ( https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=2xgkg&lwp=rt )

Still not working
  1. Close the game
  2. Press Windows Key + R
  3. Paste: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\CityGameStudio
  4. Delete all configurations files (configuration.cfg, configuration.cfg.local, locale.cfg)
  5. Start City Game Studio

No sound (Windows Only with normal launch)
There is a workaround, please disable the exclusive mode as described and the problem should be solved:

Game freezes when starting the game
Everytime I start the game the logo appears but it stays there for a couple of minutes and crashes right after that.

Hello @Triton

I apologize for that issue. I want to help.
May you answer those few questions please?

1. Were you able to play the game before, or you never played the game before?
2. What is your OS versio (Windows/Linux/MacOS)?
3. What is your Graphic card?

Thank you.

Hey Binogure,

Thank you for the quick reply.

1. No this is the first time I started the game.

2. I have tried this both on my computer and laptop and they both run on Windows 10

3. My computer has the GTX 760 Gpu and my laptop has the Geforce 930MX Gpu.

Is there a way for me to give you a crash report?
lsecars Feb 22, 2019 @ 6:29am

Binogure  [developer] Feb 22, 2019 @ 6:36am
Thank you @No one knows.

@Isecars I'm going to fix that issue today.

May you try to let the game starts for a while (for example 5 full minutes)

Temporary solution!

I've been talking to Binogure in discord to find the problem of my crashes and after some troubleshooting we've found the problem.

I have a raspberry pi that act as a pi hole and a dhcp server, after disabling the pi hole the game worked for me.

Binogure later fixed the problem for me, thank you for the help.

Bug: Clicking random name too quickly can crash game
title
Binogure  [developer] Mar 1, 2019 @ 4:09pm
Thank you for that report. However I spent 15 minutes trying to reproduce it, without success. I even used xdotool:

xdotool click --repeat 100 --delay 5 1

I cannot reproduce this issue.
May you join the discord server and send me a record of the bug please:
