How do you open all those sealed blast doors?
More than a few times now, I've come across sealed blast doors with a terminal next to them. Eg the entrance to Recyling, and at the end of Access -1. There are easy/nice doors with a terminal that has 'open door' as a listed hack, but a many have no listed hacks, and performing a manual hack of "open" gives a 0% chance of success. I'm repeatedly missing out on a lot of content and it's getting annoying. Am I using the correct manual hack? No way to tell, it's fustrating.

Also, forblowing up the doors, it appears that you need to be able to one-shot the listed armour value. Using a volley to get enough damage doesn't seem to work. Correct?

Others can handle the spoiler aspects here, but I'll say that there are only two hackable doors in the game with no listed hack--special doors which you'll learn about in other ways. All the others will have an Open option if you're at the terminal which opens the door (which will always be a small terminal very close by). You'll never need to guess and manually type "Open" on anything at all.

One-shot, yes. There is no cumulative damage against terrain.

So just to clarify, for my latest encounter of it: Aftering finding the entrance to Recylcing via Access(branch), and finding the sealed door directly in front of it with the obvious nearby terminal, said terminal having no listed hacks is intended behaviour?

Recycling is one of the two doors, yes. It's not important anyway, and you'll figure out how to get in later, don't worry about it :)

Heh, I asked this question here just the other day.

Yes, intended. That was kinda my original question then I removed it after I realised that I just needed something special to open them. I had also tried Open with 0%, as well as mining around and inside, but no getting through that armor for me. So Open is not the right command and afaik you never need to manual hack the command Open at all.

I think I can say without spoiling anything further as well that Recycling is not on the same floor as -1/Access (which since there are two doors, means it is the other one).

Yes, my bad, the Access doors are different. I assume Kyzrati is telling us that the two 'non-Opening' doors are Storage->Recycling and that Gate in Zion. Back to recycling: I thought that I'd figured it out, there was an entry in more Lore file that I'd forgotten about:
" We don't know the correct code, but someone inserted an alternate hack that works just as well to open the new door between Storage and Recycling: "\\IAMDERELICT". If you ever need a shortcut..."
Still doesn't work, nuts. Even tried a Force(Tunnel) on a nearby recycling depo, but as usual it didn't seem to do anything.
It's really frustrating because /I don't know what I'm doing wrong/, and it's only a branch on -8 for crying out loud.

Anyone else get it open and care to spoil it?

No you're right. At the correct door terminal (the little one right there), open it and activate the manual command entry, after which \\IAMDERELICT will open it. Make sure you also type the backslashes, and I'm not sure what keyboard you're using, but I know that by default '\' is not the same key on UK keyboards unless you load up the new keyboard layout file I've added in 3.1. On US-101 kbs it works as you'd expect.

I wonder if it's ok to remove the backslashes from the code (or put an alternative symbol for it), just so that everyone can type it in without much problem?
Kyzrati  [developer] Nov 13, 2017 @ 5:58am
The backslashes were added intentionally as a way to differentiate special codes from regular hacks. As soon as you leave alphanumerics for anything else, regardless of the character, some non-US keyboards will have an issue even if others don't. (Though I'm guessing in xylose's case it might be that they just don't yet know that special hacks actually include the backslashes as quoted. It's best to wait for a reply before considering other ideas based on potentially false assumptions. That said, several times I've imagined that maybe one day there'll be yet another menu system for manual hacking (akin to what we already have for special codes), but I'd really prefer to not go that far... And the time is better spent elsewhere.)

It might be "bugged" for me after all then, idk if I have the same problem as xylose (UK keyboard). I use .ahk too so that key is usually an extra spacebar key for me but I just suspend the .ahk and it should still be backslash, not < which is a separate key.

What happens:
When I type in \\ on my keyboard in game it comes up as << and <<IAMDERELICT failed for me. As did IAMDERELICT, /IAMDERELICT and //IAMDERELICT

Reading up, maybe I need to load the 3.1 keyboard layout file then? I don't know how to do that off the top of my head but I can easily verify whether that works since terminals are everywhere.

Correct, it certainly needs to show backslashes there! On a UK keyboard you can actually get them by hitting the '#' key.

Cogmind's library keyboard handling uses an old method that is 1) different from most modern games and 2) can't handle all non-US keyboards perfectly... (it's not based on what's shown on your key, but the physical location of that key, unless you load a keyboard file--that said, I still don't believe the UK keyboard file works that well, though, unfortunately... Someone tested it already. Those familiar with US layouts seem to have a better time just figuring out the couple keys that are different.)

I'm at a terminal right now and can confirm # gives \ ingame. :)
Will have to wait until next playthrough to check it works at the right terminal.

I just went back and looked at my screenshots, and it turns out I was using forward slashes instead of backslashes. That is mightily embarrassing, and I can only blame the Linux vs Windows environment for getting it wrong ;p

Haha that's one explanation :P
