Also in no matter situation you should force ram bots a bit to get enough to equip matter-free weapon
A lot of players dont mind even 30%+, main danger is fusing, and only for certain types of builds
Also before running out of matter it helps to carry backup thermal or melee weapons, since those don't require matter to net you some more in an emergency.
Corruption specifically doesn't drain a significant amount of matter though. If it's able to do that then you were already letting yourself get dangerously low.
As ktur suggests, if it's an absolutely emergency, just ram a bot (preferably something green that doesn't shoot back :P) and restock a little matter in order to attach another weapon (which you hopefully have) to start the matter recovery train.
Many people don't even care much about corruption, even huge amounts :P (the most dangerous things it might generally do are fusing a certain part or cause a misfire at a really bad time)
However, regarding matter I have to admit that the assumption is you don't spend massive amounts of time on a given floor with nothing going on. In that case I guess eventually, yes, corruption can literally wipe all your matter from max to nothing and leave you to go find some bots to ram :P. Mines is generally a low-activity map, for example. One thing that's a good idea is to stock up on resources before leaving a map, especially if heading into a branch since many of those are lower on resources compared to main areas of the complex. So that means matter, spare parts, and so on.
