Keep in mind there may be two different "lifes".
There is life only as we Humans know it, and there may be a "Universe" life, which we as Humans have no idea about, or have yet to discover.

"SOUND" is only when a "noise" is percieved by a living creature. But a"NOISE" is an actual physical result. SO a "NOISE" will be made, but not necessacarily "heard' .

The "Universe" is not a 'thing', but a 'place'. Thus trhere must be a universe for anything to "be in". Then it is only a 'universe' once something is "in it".
Although also consider even the "Absolute Nothinness" is still a 'thing' but being absolutely empty of anything and any time.

While I personally tend to lean in this direction, skeptically, the emergence of life doesn't require that the universe be "trying" to do anything. It could simply be emergent. We could simply be anthropomorphizing a mindless confluence of forces that gave rise to us.
