I bought this yesterday and it sounds like I'm having the same trouble as you, textures that won't draw properly or shade, and jerkiness.
Can you point me in the direction of the common solutions please, I'll give them a go.
Thanks.
"Locate the Nadeo Configuration Settings ini.
Not the STEAM_Nadeo,DON'T EDIT THIS ONE.
Edit the Nadeo Configuration Settings ini with Notepad or WordPad.
Change the Distro to Distro=MILIN
Then download the http://files2.trackmaniaforever.com/TmUnitedForever_Update_2010-03-15_Setup.exe
And browse to your Steam\SteamApps\common\trackmania united draw."
Copy pasted from some older post here, this seems to be the general solution, unfortunately it does not work for me.
After my original post I did find that myself, the Nadeo website is useless for help, but I found the forum.
It has worked for me, sorry to hear that it's of no help to you. :(
The full forum link for anyone wanting to see is http://www.tm-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=196489#p196489
I still find it odd that the free version that's here on steam works fine, but this one doesn't.
Well, that did it for me, many thanks!
It has ALWAYS refused to start. And I have tried around (what seems like) 200 installs on around 3 of my gaming rigs.
TC Stadium (I got yesterday) took me the 2 years to buy because this game has always refused to work on either my Haswell i7 GTX780 rig or my Haswell i5 ASUS R9 Crossfire rig (or my older HD7770 rig). I probably tried it on my i7 laptop also.
I refuse to splash out any money on TM United; nor TM Turbo, until I have had TM Stadium working at least a couple of weeks, and unless the TM Turbo reviews are higher and the number of people are playing (500) on average goes up..
This older game I have to pass on as life is too short.
P.S.
TM Stadium when I got around to buying it worked first time (make an account), and runs really nice at the highest settings.
I MAY get the other trackpacks .. depending.
EDIT
Just a thought...
Maybe TM United is region coded? (we in the Far East).
i Have the Steam version and Upgrade von Nations forever to United
Windows 10 Home
Intel i7 6500U
NVidia GeForce 945M

Edit: Tried turning anti-aliasing down from 16-sample to 2-sample. Looked like the problem was fixed, but now it's doing it again, though the problem is not as severe as before.
Edit 2: Decreased quality from Very High to High, and now it's working again. Not sure exactly what the problem is, but if you're having this issue and none of the established fixes work for you, try just lowering the quality settings.
I'm totally having this issue and nothing I can see seems to work. >.<
UPDATE
I fixed it.
"Delete local content."
I have a laptop with GTX850M card.
What DID work for me was forcing the game to run on my integrated graphics card (Intel HD 4600) AND running the game at medium quality or lower.
When I switched the graphics settings to high again, I got low res textures again.
Running the game at medium quality with my integrated graphics card still gave me 80-120 fps depending on the map and looked way better than the low res texture stuff.
EDIT: Also make sure you put your anti aliasing and filtering options as low or possible. The low res textures reappeared when I put them so high as possible.
I wonder if you need to make sure the game uses as little Vram as possible because if it crosses the treshold of however little it has (it says 40mb for me), it will downres the textures automatically. A better way would be if you could somehow tell to the game that you have a lot more of Vram available, wouldn't know how though.
Just played TMUF for the first time in ages and noticed I also had the low res issue (also have a GTX 970). This fix worked perfectly for me, the game is back to its old self. Thank you for sharing the fix here.
i changed Distro=TAHOR to Distro=MILIN in my Nadeo.ini file and when i want to install TmUnitedForever_Update_2010-03-15_Setup.exe it says "You don't need to install this version".
Does anybody know what to do please?
Edit: Solved by changing Version=2.11.26 to Version=2.11.16, then i successfully installed the patch and it's fine now :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
It fixed my problem!
