ultra low visual quality [SOLVED]
i maxed out the settings and got this ugly mess of a game the only thing that stays high quality is the shadows but everything else is super low resolution and is just aweful to look at in general is there a way around this i have a GTX 980ti and a intel i7 4790k

solution:
Fixed it! A fellow Steam user by the name of Firestix helped out. It's due to the fact that almost all modern graphics cards have over 2 GB of VRAM, which the TMforever engine just doesn't know how to deal with. Here's the solution: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/TrackMania_United_Forever#Issues_fixed

Try toggling AGP usage? I know it might not be as relevant considering your specs, but I used to have a similar problem running it on an intel HD 3000 on high settings, and putting AGP usage up to 10 or so completely fixed the issue.

Sorry about late response with the thread. I was just browsing through and saw your topic. If you're still looking for a solution I'd be happy to help.

I'd say try it at 10% usage. AGP usage is under compatability in graphics settings.

I know this is an old topic, but this discussion board isn't particularly active to begin with.

Anyway, I'm having the exact same probelm -- on an AMD Radeon R9 390 and an i5-6400. Now we know it isn't an Nvidia problem.
I'd be happy to hear of anyone else's solutions. It works perfectly fine on my HP laptop with an Nvidia GeForce GT 650M and an i7-3610QM, but not on my much newere desktop rig (although to be fair, it also works reasonably on my old laptop with a ATI Mobility Radeon X1270 and an AMD Turion 64 x2 TL-60).

Can confirm this aswell after changing GPU with 1GB VRAM to one with 4GB VRAM running with low visuals. After patching, as explained here, all is fine again.

I can't update it. Even when I change my distros, it still says "distros not compatible"
I can't play the game because it looks like trash. Please help.
