TMUF - Game Freezing
Hi,

I've started playing TMUF again recently, but I can't really enjoy the game currently as the game freezes again and again, mostly while loading the next track (not every time the track changes, but it is barely possible for me to play more than 20 minutes without getting a freeze). Even more annoying is that I can't close the game with ALT+F4 or through the Task-Manager, as TMUF visually blocks all other programs. All I can do is to restart the PC.

Here is what I tried to solve this problem so far (without success):
  • verifying files via steam
  • re-installing the game
  • using the non-steam-version
  • playing in compatibility mode
  • starting the game with admin rights

Some information about my PC:
  • Windows 10, newest version available for my PC.
  • Intel Core i5-9400F @2.90 GHz with 16 GB RAM
  • Geforce GTX 1650, newest driver version available (465.89)

Since I haven't had this problem when I played TMUF the last time (summer last year), I assume it might be caused by a new version of Windows or the graphics driver which has been released in the meantime. Could that be possible?

Run game in stretched window instead of fullscreen. Then you can close it from taskbar.

Can you run any games more demanding than this without the games freeze up? Say like GTA 5 or even more demanding?

Thanks for the answer. I've found another solution in the meantime, which at least allows me to close the game when it is frozen without having to restart my PC (I activated the option to always run the task-manager in the foreground)

For the games I play it is definitely good enough to run them smoothly :) And as I said, this problem is new. I play on this PC for more than a year now and also played TMU without any problems. Now I started again after some months and this freezing happens :/

Hello! Sorry to hear you're facing this issue, it is the first I've heard of this behaviour personally.

I believe it is most likely caused by a GPU or Windows update as you suggest, however there are always steps we can try.

One very important troubleshooting step that is often overlooked is disabling background applications. If by doing that the game works fine, it suggests another software was previously running & conflicting with your game.

Hey! Thanks for answering. I was doing a couple of tests with disabling background applications, yet it didn't seem to entirely solve the problem with the freezing. Since last week tho I am able to run the game without any freezing again. My assumption: I had a big windows update Tuesday last week to Version Windows 10 20H2. Since then no problems anymore :)

Hello, I know its been a while since youve faced this issue but have u found a fix?
I have the exact same problem, but it also happens on TM2020, TMNF and for some odd reason Photoshop. Whats even weirder is the fact that these issues were nowhere to be found until I put an SSD in my PC. Moving those applications out of the SSD doesnt help either. Is there anything these three programs share in terms of maybe graphics rendering or something? I dont know im just lost on wtf to do.

May we please know the specs of the PC you're using (GPU, CPU, RAM, OS, Laptop / Desktop)?

And have you attempted any troubleshooting such as the steps in our guide here[ubi.li], or performing a System File Check[ubi.li], as you're noting this happening across multiple applications?

Getting the same problem here. The game randomly freezes when loading a track.
