I'm sorry to hear you're having issues running the game!
May we know what specs you're using? As well as any errors you receive when it crashes?
Have you also attempted any troubleshooting since this began?

Hey Ibee,
I'm sorry to hear you're also encountering crashes!
Do you receive any certain error messages or codes?
Can you please also try launching the game in Compatibility Mode[support.ubisoft.com] and let us know if there's any changes?
Thank you!

Hey Ibee,
Thank you for getting back to us!
Do you both use a PS4 controller?
And if so, could you please try launching the game with the controller disconnected?
As the game does natively support X-Input controllers but not DS
Let us know if there are any changes!
Thank you!

Thank you very much, that is incredibly helpful.
It's possible the DualShock 4 is not an officially supported controller, like many of older games. Xbox controllers don't tend to have compatibility issues due to them having native support with Windows.
Steam Big Picture has multiple controller settings to improve support which you can experiment with, I'm sure you will be able to find a video online.
Thanks again and all the best to you :)

As an alternative fix, could you please try editing the config file and downloading a patch for the game?
Please follow our guide here on how to do this, this may help resolve your random crashing issues also - https://steamcommunity.com/app/7200/discussions/0/3135045355763052773/
Please let us know how you get on after trying the steps in this game and relaunching the game?

You CAN use a PS4 controller with this game. You just cannot configure your controller setup to steer with the analog stick. IDK why, but this will crash the game.
The way I fixed it was to import the default controller configuration from TM Nations Forever (which is free), because that works. Haven't had any crashes since.
@Ubisoft: It would be nice if you would fix this bug. Not holding my breath, but seriously it's a bit ridiculous. :p
@Whoever can do it: It would be a good idea if the default controller config for United Forever was one that is compatible with PS4 controllers too. At least until when/if the bug is fixed.
If I change the controller config to use the stick as an analog stick it will crash the game. If I set the stickmovement to single keys it will not crash the game but then I can not use analog steering.
If I disable steam input in the properties it also crashes the game.
I was able to get analog controls to work with Dualshock 4 without crashing the game, though this step may also work with a Pro Controller too.
First make sure to check the Properties of the game, Controller, then make sure 'Use default Settings' is selected and there is a blue dot next to your connected controller in the menu.
Next, open Steam in Big Picture mode.
Select TMUF.
Select Manage Game.
Select Controller Configuration.
Select Browse Configs.
Select Templates.
Scroll down and select Gamepad.
Apply Configuration.
Then back out of this menu, check the Controller Options menu.
Make sure you have Steam Input set as 'Global Setting'
Launch the game.
The game should then use the DS4 analog steering as default. Please let me know if this works for you too?

BetterJoy makes the switch pro controller to appear as a xbox360 controller and HIDHide hides the switch controller from other appliciations in the os.
Once both are setup you are able to select the "gamepad" configuration in the conroller layout in steam.
