This is what Fallout should look like.

Wasteland has always had a very unique flare to its games. Wasteland 3 is certainly unique, but it is also very disappointing in comparison to Wasteland 2.

I'm going to do this in a bullet point form to make this simple:

Pros
-Story is great, although there is a lot of boring dialogue that I eventually found myself skipping by. As with Wasteland 2, I eventually found myself just playing to kill stuff.
-Lots more customisation with outfits and character creation, although armour now shows on your character, so clothing is more or less irrelevant as you never see it.
-They have a lot more weapon variety. E.g. automatic weapons includes automatic bullet and energy weapons, big guns includes spewers(flamethrower, cryothrower etc.) and machine guns.
-Map travel is lovely. You get a nice snow-plow-tank to drive around in and it just looks cool.
-Quests have a suggested level on the quest page, which is useful to know what you should be doing next.

Cons
-Difficulty/balancing is all kinds of wack. If you thought W2's difficulty was ridiculous at times, this game just feels unreal. Overkill(and a lot less fun), but in virtually all fights my characters were being kill in easily 1 or 2 turns, even my 'tanky' character, and enemies are bullet sponges. I dropped the difficulty, and enemies go down by over 200% health (one enemy went from 200~ to 60~). The health and damage values are just insane in this game, it feels like they took the wrong lessons from W2 on balancing.
-Related to the difficulty, there's a lot less tactical options in W3. W2 wasn't the deepest game but it had a lot more depth than W3. Every fight in W3(at wastelander or higher difficulty) just feels like a turn-wide DPS check.
-Status effects are weird. There's some new status effects of course, but they reworked DoT and it's awful. Admittedly I don't remember how much damage they did but in W3 they do % damage, and DoTs last a long time. Having the first aid kit, or alternatively a lot of stims(which is realistically impossible), is essential which is a bit unfortunate as an optional skill.
-There does seem to be some bugs and issues but they are negligible in my experience.
-They removed initiative and who goes first in combat(the first turn) is dependent on who starts the fight. This is a big reason as to why I think the fights in W3 are "DPS checks" because all of your units act at the same time, and vice versa.
-Perks and skills have been changed a little bit, a lot less perks but the skills feels not unique at all.
-Gameplay based on skillchecks sucks like hell, especially when forced into every interaction.

Of anything I could say, my biggest issue is with the combat. I find it unfathomable as to why these turn-based 'tactical' rpgs always find it so difficult to balance their games effectively. Obviously play on the difficulty that suits you, but this game is insane with its damage and health values at, what I assume is, the normal and standard difficulty. I'm talking double your health, quadruple your damage. It was very odd trying to play this game and I was very excited to finally try it, but I was met with utter disappointment. W2 was *much* easier on the normal difficulty (while the harder difficulties were fittingly BS in some parts) and while I appreciate the greater focus on combat with W3, they really dropped the ball here. It feels like they tried to make it more varied and interested but they forgot to balance all the new mechanics, the tweaks, and just everything really. Also, trying to have every skill available to you is somehow harder in W3 and there's weirdly high skill checks in areas / quests that are low suggested level, so expect lots of missed checks. I can't explain that one, it just felt like odd design.

EDIT: Also, to add to the bugs point, one of the biggest issues I've been having quite a big into my playthrough is lag spikes. To compare to this game, I've been able to run games like Cyberpunk 2077, DOOM 2016, and other beefy *OPTIMISED* games that dwarf this game in requirements. Not to mention Wasteland 3, like Wasteland 2, unfortunately runs on Unity. Not the best engine from what I've seen. I mean, it works, but I've seen that it always has its issues especially with optimisation
