I feel like there are two ''best'' endings, I guess it is always debatable, depending on what the player wants to do later, etc ...? Haven't finished the game yet.
So I was looking for the information about endings after I finished mine (just recently, I finally managed to find the time for the game). I feel like Markham is not that good. What I managed to do instead was to leave the Steeltown in the hands of Crow and Blue - cooperation, both running the Steeltown, with Blue in admin level along with Crow, freed the synths completely. When fighting the gangs after, I had the ghosts, synths, and instead of robot security, workers.
Then I read the info about the endings, and as you are super happy about yours, I feel like I made the best choice possible, my perspective. As I said, I feel like Markham was not exactly nice.
For anyone wondering how to get this, it is pretty much same as the guide above. There are bonus points for various quests in steeltown, and how you resolve them, not necessarily just kill / subdue options. Blue takes those into account as well.
Giving the factory to blue and crow is impossible if you kill the first ghost attackers which most will out of ignorance.
But it is also not the best ending if you take the pov of Colorado and the Synth. Only Markham and the synth working together are capable of making Steeltown into the wonder Colorado needs to thrive.
And I don't feel like making Crow the leader is a good choice, crow has no experience of leadership and can't run Steeltown. Blue can make it hold together only by virtue of being a genius engineer.
Having the synth run Steeltown with Markham feels more like having Markham being a slave to the synth which is great. Because the story shows Markham is also unable to run Steeltown and regressed in her management skills. The old slaves now run the show and Markham is only a figurehead that sells the products. It is the only option that insures the safety of the most vulnerable in Steeltown not just the workers.
But that is only my opinion and it is only just as valid as the next person's opinion :)
Does any of this impact the original ending of the game if ii'm going for november reign?
For that one I can confirm to you it won't. Steeltown adds a few flavor texts to your ending but they are stand alone and don't affect other ending flavor texts.
For Ludlow I don't remember getting a special weapon from either killing or arresting him. I didn't side with him but from what I read it just locks you out of crow's ending.
"Giving the factory to blue and crow is impossible if you kill the first ghost attackers which most will out of ignorance."
- are you sure about this? what makes it impossible? I killed the first ghost gang and i'm stil able to have a conversation with Blue by using disruptors for that battle so nothing tells me them working together is impossible but im not done with the game yet.
My question to the original guide is what happens if you just side with Markham instead of letting Crow die in battle? I'm not connecting the dot as to why that's necessary if the battle against the reavers involves ghosts, synths, and markham's bots? There's no workers stated - is it some reputation reason to side with crow and letting her die in battle?
Not sure if other encountered this. but so far i'm able to get the +5 refugees reputation which answered my own question aboev and didn't lose any reputation siding against Markham initially.
Crow is Liberty's spy, just kill her
