What's the best strategy for the Irv clones?
***SPOILERS AHEAD***

Ok, so I've been through the fight at Rosie Wong's apartments once, and managed to "win" with two surviving Rangers... Part of the problem was that I assumed the pressure plates had something to do with winning the battle and screwed myself chasing that dream.

But leaving that aside, the Irv clones were a real pita, and a step up from anything I've faced before...for one thing, they seem to have an unlimited supply of healing syringes and aren't afraid to use them. For another, they absorb tons of bullet and energy damage and run around all over the place doing beaucoup damage themselves.

Am I just supposed to hang back and shoot the liquid nitrogen drums to take them out, or what? What's the secret to success here? It was such a long, frustrating battle I don't feel like slogging through it several times if I don't have to.

(OTOH, it will probably be months before anyone answers this, so I'll probably end up doing it anyway lol.)

The liquid nitrogren drum in the back is a good opener, because it will affect two of the clones at once. Be sure to position your party beforehand after disarming the alarm trap, that way you can get a good first turn.

Hack the turret so you do not have to deal with it, use status effects to your advantage, especially diseased is strong with -15% evasion and -3 AP, so have your brawler equip the Glass Knucks and try to get it at least on the two that are already frozen. You probably do not have BillyJean yet, but you should have other animals that can distract or even deal a tiny bit of damage.

Use your melee specialist to stun one of the clones, your pistoleer with tricky shot tries to cripple the second one, and then focus fire on the third and try to bring it down in the first turn so it cannot heal. If that is not possible, distribute the damage so no single clone goes below 50%, which is the threshold for healing item use. Then you can focus one after the other in the next rounds.

Oh and your leader should of course demoralize and rally whenever he can.

I have done this tactic many times. Let them come to you and that's it. It makes no sense to force yourself there because it is a waste of resources. I'm talking about healing things. They are dumb enough to stand in the open

This fight is done immediately when Rose Wong asks for your help

Thanks, guys! I actually came up with another idea that worked out well, although I lost Major Tom (who was getting on my nerves anyway, so c'est la vie). Using the "let them come to you" strategy, after I triggered the fight, I decided to high-tail it with everyone back down the hallway to Rosie and the front door. I set up two turrets there pointing back up the long hallway and positioned everyone per social distancing guidelines. (Since no one stuck around to disable the enemy turret in Irv's apartment, that's what eventually did in my cat. )

Two clones followed me, but one of them kept changing its mind about what it wanted to do, so I was able to essentially finish them off one by one with concentrated fire from the end of the hallway. Once the cat was no longer a threat in the apartment, the third contestant came on down and I finished him off in the same way. I had to send my mechanic back to disable the enemy turret to end the fight, but it was easy getting across the room to do that without taking any hits, so it ended up being all good.

Rosie calmly stood there through it all, watching, completely oblivious to any danger, even though my heavy weapons guy was stationed behind her pouring out bullets by the bucketload lol.
