Is the perk 'Vengeful Bond' bugged?

Well. My cat is DEAD, and my dude now has the bonus permanently. This can't possibly be intended, it's ridiculously broken! Just grab a chicken, send it into the fight, let it die and enjoy your Critical Hitting GODHOOD.

I mean... it requires quite large investment of skillpoints. And whole Animal friend perk is powerful (try to give it to all 6 teammates and give all of them pet :D )
