Brawler feels awful until brawler 10 though. Melee have a less degenerate power curve but both melee play increasingly smooth as your units gain more mobility through speed and gear mods and such while most pure shooty classes don't see as large a swing from other stats.
i have a nerd science melee build that just zergs and clears out one side of the map solo.
conan run + free swing + swing + robot hug + swing / thundering strike and then swap to hammer for the tank buff. The ones that are left cant hurt you and the ones that turn focus to another party member just set you up for more conan runs.
