Toaster Repair

With the very limited skillpoints now I wonder if its worth putting points into this skill?

In Wasteland 2, the toaster repairing skill usually give you a surprise bonus, it isn't really persistent but the bonuses are generally very nice. You can always just stuff a bunch of these useless combat skills on a single ranger to make him a utility person.

Toaster Repair should be useful for the loot. Also the perk you get at rank 3 for Toaster Repair (Toaster Expert: fixing Broken Toasters now yields bonus loot) seems worth it. But the rank 5 perk that yields toasts, no idea.

Otherwise, at rank 7 and 10, Toaster Repair gives you perks for fire damage and burning:
- Heating Element: fire damage bonus +25.0%.
- Toasty: killing an enemy causes your next attack to inflict Burning.

Rank 7 perk might be useful for someone specialized on fire damage (Disciple of the Metal background, Pyromaniacs quirk, big gun (flamethrower) or explosives, etc...). Rank 10 perk seems underwhelming (other easier ways to inflict burning).

The skill points are only limited compared to higher intelligence scores. Rangers get three points per level, which is equal to what a WL2 ranger with 4 INT got.

More importantly, skills take far fewer skill points to max out. In Wasteland 2, you needed to spend 36 skill points to raise a skill from 0 to 9. I don't remember exactly how many points it took to do the same in the beta, but I remember skills costing fewer points at high levels.

I've only repaired about 5 toasters so far, and this is what I've found :


- 2 tarjan tokens that give perks (10% evade, 2 penetration 1% cold resist)
- A golden cable that seems to say it will power a toaster... no idea
- a toaster lore book ... not sure if these books do anything
- +1 toaster trinket

Some trinkets and things need certain perks to use, so I'm wondering if any of the Tarjan perks will come in handy later. I'm liking the 10% evade on my heavy guy that runs into fights...

Toast is a full heal for only 2 AP.

what are Trajan tokens? I remember seeing it in the toaster, but once I collected it I never saw it again in my inventory

what are Trajan tokens? I remember seeing it in the toaster, but once I collected it I never saw it again in my inventory

It’s in there, Took me a bit to find it, inventory management needs some cleaning up.

But I then sold it.

The tarjan tokens can be used with the tarjan machine in the Bizarre. I found three tokens so far. What bonus you get is random. I got these bonuses from the machine:
- perk: +1% coldresist,+2 penetration
- perk: +15 con
- perk: +10% evade
- bonus: +25% XP for x seconds (very long timer)

not sure how many tokens and which bonuses/perks are in the game

I think Toaster repair is fully worth it on my pyromaniac companion.. but well.

When I first saw that "toaster repair" I'm like wtf why would they make it a separate skill and then I've repaired my first toaster and realized how awesome source of various stuff this thing is. After you've gathered enough parts from various toasters to assemble golden toaster, you'll be given location of... the T O A S T E R repair academy! Church-looking building filled with loot, better bring your best locksmith there. You'll find there probably the best armor in the game - verchitin armor 16/35/16 and 25% cold/energy/fire resistance. The supposedly main reward though is opportunity to get autonomous companion - golden toaster, which spits fire at enemies. Pretty handy against everything that can burn.
