One could assume that this is a hint that at least inXile was ready for a next game. But I guess now it's up to Microsoft...
But yeah, I really hope so too... we will see after Clockwork Revolution, pretty sure they have all hands full with that one at the moment.
We can then have completed the trilogy.
I wonder, however, what the goal in your crusade against the game is. You seem to dedicate a portion of your time to constantly trash talk the game here. And nothing constructive either, just whining that it'd be "so bad" or hurt your feelings or whatever.
I mean if you don't like then that's fair & fine, you are with the 16% of the other players, but don't you have better things to do? Maybe play a game that you actually like? Just curious...
Sadly you could have asked for a refund but it seems you would rather spend time trash posting than playing.
Well i bought the game about a year ago, and i finally had time and dedication to try it out.
I played Wasteland 2(though never finished it), i played the original fallouts (which i also did not finish, but that is mainly because I played it like twenty years ago and my computer died while being at the endgame). I like the turn based rpg-s, but often i have an issue finishing them.(Time, dedication etc.) Just to give a bit of an insight about my criticism. I did not get far, it was not a rage quit, the game just felt it took a lot of bad development decisions.
So I started the game. The character generation page is ...not well thought out. Those click on the small bubbles to go to next page are a terrible idea. (playing with mouse and keyboard.) Not to mention there is no RESET button. So you need to manually set everything back to 2. I also did not see any SAVE Characters options. (I usually make something play a bit then restart, when i get the feeling what char i would be most comfortable with.) -> these are issues with the character creation interface. Bad design overall. It reminds me a bit of how web page design evolved, quite a lot of time they sacrifice everything for design. Even usefulness.
Unskippable dialogue cutscenes. I checked forums, the key settings everything but it is not possible to skip them. I tried the different approaches with Jared Dorsey (skill wise) and i had to watch the damn scene every single time. I cannot skip it. And it seems there are quite a few of these in the game. So far and i am not even far in the game i met 4 such. Also using the left mouse click to skip a dialogoue does not work, unless i click on the "mouse in the dialogue box" small picture. Interestingly it accepts number 1-9 (in my case so far it was 1-4) as options when selecting an answer. There is also no chatbox, or i was not able to pull it up, so as in to be able to read back discussions, notice what others in hearing range were saying that overlapped with something else, or i simply misheard and could not see the text. -> These again are bad development decisions.
The "weapons" having levels and how the characters look, is reminding me of what little i know about overwatch and similar games. I am unsure why that game was taken an example regarding the looks. Why not just have them named, people can check their details and make a decision. Also all those level 4(only seen level 4 ones like that) permanently orange outlined weapons seem silly. The character looks is actually hillariously contradicting each other. Until you get into a dialogue with someone they look "decent". But once you start to talk to them their looks are overly emphasized, and in a bad way. They just feel comical and again in a bad way.
The fights. I think they are far too overly simplified. Perhaps they wanted to speed it up. The UI seems to be more akin to X-Com than the previous Wasteland or Fallout (original) games. I did not really like the new ui.
I hope when they make the new Wasteland they return back to something similar to Wasteland 2.
I feel more inclined to agree with the guy who says the game is more bad than good.
Reviews are sadly not really a good indicator about games, they can give you an overall feel usually. (Also extrapolating how most of the players feel about the game as per a small percentage's oppinion is not really a good idea. We cannot really tell if the review ratio is even representative. Most of the guys dont have time or dont care to write reviews.)
For instance Wrath of the Righteous has similar review ratings (about 84 positive there), yet that game feels way better than this one.
Tides of Numenara also feels way better than this game. (And that one has a lot more negative reviews.)
No need to get annoyed, or upet, this is just my oppinion. If you enjoy the game then play it and enjoy it, i will probably try a few more times and maybe my oppinion changes as per later events.
(And yes i own the game but on Good Old)
edit: i noticed a few things which made me remove certain parts.
I have a pretty good feeling that we won't be seeing any sign of WL4 until, at the absolute least, late 2025, early 2026; this is an assumption made based on WL4 being their next game, not that it will be the next game.
Clockwork Revolution doesn't even have a release date yet and I'm getting the feeling it'll have DLC of some kind—which requires more development time away from WL4.
I guess it ultimately depends on what M$ wants and, right now, what they seem to want is "first-person RPG" judging from their focus on Avowed (which takes place in the Pillars of Eternity—an originally CRPG—universe), Starfield, and Clockwork Revolution.
I don't think the worst part is even the wait period, it's that the game will probably cost $70 and there's no way in hell I'm ever spending above $60 on a game.
Can't speak for everyone, but no base game is worth that much.
Sucks to wait for a really good sale dropping it below $60, but hey, what can you do but that?
