The game ends when the main story is done.
Thanks for the help! Um, where is the Race Track area, so I can avoid it until I am ready?
yuma county is pretty much the very last place you go. so there is nothing to worry about
if you want to have No cash shortages:
Do the Steeltown, before you decide to go after any of the 3 Bucanin kids :)
Cult of Holy Detonation I usually do around the time I'm about to travel to Denver because the DLC offers an alternative solution to Colorado's energy problem.
On a blind playthrough as Arrak suggested, doing Steeltown early will basically address any and all early game gold shortages that are common. But if you want to play the game vanilla like, I'd suggest to delay it some. Not so much because of the gold, that's not too game breaking, but because of the gear and in particular the weapons that you can obtain from it that are very strong for the level curve and make the game quite easier past it. They are not as good as the vanilla last tier weapons, but the player can only get 1 or 2 top tier vanilla weapons until very late and so steeltown weaps substantially increase your power curve if done long before you get the last radiation protection tier on your truck. It also pushes your level quite ahead of the vanilla intended curve which has essentially the same effect of making everything else easier than vanilla.
