Game saves do not sync with steam deck
I have bought steam deck, and found out that I can't continue playing the game, because steamdeck do not see any saves in cloud for this game. Cloud is enabled on both devices Any suggestions?

I don't own a steam deck but my first question would be does it have a USB drive in that case I would just copy and paste my save game for my computer over to the thumb drive and then use that.

Just copy and paste your save back and forth then if you're able to.

you may want to check in your download queue on the deck. I think depending on download settings it doesn't systematically update. Additionally, make sure you don't have W3 running on your main PC before you run on the deck. I don't know if the deck allows to have multiple instances of your steam account running or disconnects the PC account when you log on (like it does for multiple PC), but if so, then the upload to cloud from main account wouldn't happen maybe causing some desync issue withholding the update.

Just ideas based on toying around with cloud saves for PC only. I don't have a deck.

I fixed this by switching the game to run on Proton Experimental. Under the games settings>compatibly>Force the use of a specific Steam Play Compatibility tool>Proton Experimental. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much, after switching to experimental it gave me the option to update cloud saves and updated the game. Now all my saves are available.

I tried switching it to proton experiemental but the game just keeps downloading and installing over and over again.

March 2024, the issue is still here. The workaround with experimental Proton works :Hire:, but keep in mind that if you have played on steam deck and saved game on it, those saves will be erased :MoonlighterIrritated:.

I know this is late but from what I understand is that the linux save file this uses by default on the deck is incompatible with windows. Once you switch to proton experimental it should work BUT you'll need to start a new game too. Kinda sucks but that's what others have reported.

I don’t think saves are incompatible, the cloud saves are just improperly set up to sync the Windows, Mac and Linux saves into different areas in Steam’s cloud storage rather than the same one. Given the game’s made in Unity, the saves are likely compatible cross-platform.

This could be fixed pretty easily by a developer, but given they don’t update the game I doubt it. Switching to Proton should fix this as many have said, but if you’re already running Linux on your computer you should have no issues with the native build.
