Is there anyway to kill Ironclad Cordite?

I'm playing on veteran setting with permadeath disabled. I recruited cordite to get to the synth in the bizarre, but I realized I don't want him fulfilling his ending state. I can't seem to kill him now though and once started, apparently you can change the difficulty but not turn permadeth on or off. Is there anyway to make sure he fails his "destiny" to go east and conquer the plains?

Don't have him in your party(leave him at HQ) when you go to deal with Liberty Buchanan.

Ah ok, thank you. I am about to go see Angela Deth, and I'm not taking him to that meeting either.
