Provost?
Hi guys. I am on my first playthrough of W3, and just started quest in Survivalist Bunker in the Colorado Springs area. Anyway, there is a guy that is following my group, and when I talk to him, speaks a different language. I think his name is Provost or something? What do I do with him? Thoughts and help appreciated :)

Congrats you found an Easter egg character. He's from Wasteland 2 and like in WL2 he will follow you around until you find him his item and then you will get a map marker and an achievement when you go there.

He's speaking Latin, if you're curious. Knowing that and knowing what he's actually saying probably won't help you very much, but it's kind of interesting, and I assume more so if you're better read than I am. He's handy in the early-to-mid-game as an extra gun, too.

If you carry him around until the snowed inn resort, there is a reward for doing so. It isn't worth losing sleep over, the rewards are not very useful by that point in the game.

couple things. like pets and such i believe you don't get experience for him killing stuff in battle, so you'll lose experience over time using pets, having him shoot stuff, etc. You'll have to drag him around for about 2/3rds of the game to finish his quest. You'll find a coin as you play and he will reveal a secret cave in the far Northwest of the map by Aspen.

Don't worry about it most players encounter him as they play. Just drag him around and if he survives until later, great. If not, not a huge loss. Just remember next time you play where he is, and leave him there until you are getting to the Aspen part of the game then you'll probably have the coin, and you can drag him up to his cave.

You can finish his quest without dragging him around until you're ready to enter the snowed inn resort. Just don't unfreeze his room until the time comes. Pssst, a little "secret"....he doesn't need air, food and water to survive!

Thanks for the info guys. I think I am still early in game, my Characters are about level 12 and I am at the entrance of the Bunker. I have been in several fights, but that guy hasn't attacked any enemies as far as I know. Does he attack on own? How does this work? Further thoughts and help appreciated :)

He just follows your team and attacks on his own will. He's just like a pet, except you can't dismiss it. You really shouldn't pay any attention to it, even if it dies just shrug and move on the rewards are not worth it.

Eh. He's not hard to keep alive, though. You might as well see what happens if it's your first playthrough.

speak for yourself, with friendly fire on anything can and will happen frequently

This was with friendly fire on. @OP I never really had any trouble keeping him behind the front line, personally. He was usually trailing way behind when the fight started, if anything.

He can take and give out quite a bit of punishment. My guess is he's armed with at least a level 21 pistol.

Again just speak for yourself, I've had him die plenty of times, and in addition to that he just disappears over long periods of time if you don't pay attention to it due to buggy coding. It's really not worth losing sleep over, if he happens to live long enough great but don't chase it.

It's relatively speaking vs weaker characters in WL3. If you want to be particular about it, everyone not just the provost don't live long in this game without wiping out the enemy in 1 turn or cheesing. I also never had the provost disappearing bug, maybe it's already fixed or dependent on your system.

He and other pets could cause trouble in Steeltown.
On one of the mainquests for Steeltown if you decide to neutralize the workers and equip non-killing weapons on your teammembers, he and your other pets will still kill the workers and that'll alter the story and the npcs reaction towards you.

I had to dismiss my pets and sadly kill Provost before starting. :(

This is no longer true. They changed it in some update, at least that's what the update notes claimed. Now there are no consequences for your pets killing people.
