i killed the smugglers and the game is telling me to search for clues but i dont understand where to find clues. I opened that door where all the refugees are and found a note about a woman named carma or something like that. When i went back to broadmoor heights to talk to the quest giver he just tells me to go back to the camp and look for clues.

After you kill the smugglers and open the door to talk to the refugees you have to head back to the Bizarre and talk to the caravan guy at the bar about getting them to Colorado Springs.

oh well too late for that since i killed the refugees and that automatically updated the quest

Well then if you're still looking for a solution I'd try talking to Mama Cotter in Colorado Springs.

yeah i did that and killed her & her men - finished the quest.
