0 ap starts

Playing coop with a friend and half the battles all my characters start with 0 ap. I've looked for other threads, and people seem to say it's how the game resolves turn order. I don't think that's what's happening though because I often have battles that start out with the enemies turn, then my 0 ap turn, my coop buddies turn and then the enemies turn again. And so essentially the enemies get two turns before I can do anything at all. Which in a nightmare difficultly playthrough is... A nightmare.
Having paid 60 dollars each for a year old game to play co-op, Its so disappointing to deal with this level of jank.

Player 1 need to start all combats to avoid this bug... or at least that was it when i was playing coop.

I had that happen to me, but in singleplayer. its what happens when the enemies see you/ have the jump on you. it's different when the player intitiates battles; everyone gets their ap.
