2) It's good. Crouching boosts accuracy and evasion (10% as I recall).
3) Save the high tier mods for the late-game weapons. Don't mod low tier weapon (below lv 10). Use mid-tier or common mods for mid-tier weapon (from ~lv 15 to lv20). Modding armors is much more lax.
4) It's complex. If you still want Brygo in charge then you won't have Marshall support for the best ending. If you don't kill Brygo or just arrest him then you won't have the "Black" "Jack" and the related achievement.
5) Brothel clothing is there for this and that. Just a game seasoning. Items tag under "Miscellaneous" have some uses in the game but not much.
Ok, at first, many thanks. But questions remain :-D
1.) Do you use those buffs or not?
2.) Ok, got it. When you position for a fight, crouching is a good position.
3.) Thanks, that helps a lot.
4.) The core question here was, if i can fight and loot the guys at the MacTavish machine shop, or if they have any further importance.
5.) Ok, so i can sell them.
2) improves accuracy by 10%, so the opening shot should be made while crouched. If there isn't good cover for your units, crouching is better than nothing. You don't want to crouch during battle because it costs 2 ap to do it, that's why you crouch before battle.
3) you can tell generally how good weapons are by their skill requirement, and they also list a weapon level on the tooltip. Just look everywhere; the bizarre sells weapons above your level for when you first get there, and there are a number of safes or crates that have high level stuff in them. Maybe sell your soul to the devil by doing evil people favors (slavers) to get ahead of the weapon race.
I'll give you 3 specific places to get weapons ahead of your curve
- patriarch's palace, need nerd stuff 7 or 8 to use on the computer to unlock the northeast wing, then lockpick 10 on a safe drops super high quality gear. Savescum to get a weapon that you want to use.
- help la perla catch haley, the armory room has 2 chests, one of which is like the safe above where if you savescum it you can get different weapon types
- if you do the bizarre early and help out flab, on the world map a shop associated with the monster army will give you a spear shooter that is really excellent for low level, way better than any other assault rifle.
4) it doesn't require kiss ass or hard ass to get a deal to take out mctavish, you just had to talk to knowles and select the option to make a deal with him. I'm not sure what taking out mctavish does at your stage in the game, why not make a quick save and then beat them up and see what happens? they don't have any other significance, so at worst you'd be losing some rep.
5) they unlock visual changes in your wardrobe
4) No. The guys at the machine shops are just thugs. Kill them for the sake of progression.
5) Well, I recommend keeping items under "Miscellaneous" tag. They include skill books and lore books and some stuff with specific uses. Don't sell them. On your first playthrough I'm sure you will miss the Book Learnin' Achievement so you can sell the lore books if you like or short on money. Skill books should be use for the last lv of skill or reaching skill softcap.
I will try my best to answer some of your questions based on MY game experience of course. You know, different strokes for different folks...
1. Booze in my opinion are made to measure the last quirk Way of Squeezins, if you pick this quirk for your customized ranger, then you gotta keep yourself intoxicated through out the entire game... As for ciggies, it depends, if you somehow managed to maintain a steady supply, then you can chain-smoke through the game too... but if you dont then there will be an 8 min down-time for each puff you take. And why there are a load of cigarettes each with a different brand, I think that is a simple but effective blocking mechanism to stop you from becoming a chain-smoker since you are only allowed to smoke what you put in quick slots out of combat...
2. Crouch is a combat stance that increases your evasion and aim... It is as simple as that.. there is also a perk in the Big Gun skill tree that says +20% evasion and aim with HMGs when in low cover.. well crouch is low cover..
3. Yes, weapons with a yellow highlight around them are unique weapons. Unique weapons are usually a bit stronger than regular weapons of the same level. As for weapon levels check out the detailed information window on the right in your inventory when you click-point a weapon in your pack, you will see a light blue LV tag followed by a digit in it. That LV+number is the weapon level which tells a better weapon from a bad one. The bigger the number the better the weapon, armors too. You can also check out in this window the weapon's parameter including damage, category, special effects and so on..
You can upgrade weapons any time you want when you can, I say so because you wouldnt have anything to mod your weapons with any time sooner than after completing a few missions in Colorado Springs. After that your arsenal should be worthy enough for mods. Also in current version(1.4) of the game there is a Crafting System with which you are allowed to craft weapon & armor mods. So you dont really have to be too mean while deciding which weapon is worth modding except for those powerful end-game mods. I'd say you dont have worry about modding the wrong gun because by the time you can lay your hands on end-game mods your weapons will be end-game quality, too.
After patch 1.4, selling guns would be a loss outweighs the gain, because of the above mentioned Crafting System. Scraps are hard currency in this system. Everything you craft will cost some scraps. My advise is dont sell guns, strip them for scraps and keep your scraps no matter how high your Barter skill is.
4. There is thorough walkthrough on IGN Wiki Youtube and whatever game sites you can google, feel free to check them out. The one big selling point this game has to offer is challenging your conscience with hard decisions. So do what you guts tell you is a good play.
5. That SM style fetish lingerie set neither provide any combat bonuses nor would it bear any story telling functionality except for catering to your taste of fashion XD... just keep it if you like it. There are Miscs items that do carry some purpose, such as a book you loot solving the Dont Be My Neighbor mission, into which you can find a chemical formula for a bloody red dye to get the dye merchant you meet in Bizarre Exterior to vouch for your entrance into Bizarre Interior.
That's it, Hope this might be some help to you , my fellow ranger.
Aw, but he's such a hoot. You owe it to yourself to take him on at least one run through. Give him a bottle of Squeezins and a decent melee weapon, and he'll start hacking through the enemy like a jungle guide hacks through the brush.
Added bonus: he's a lush, so sometimes you don't even need to micro-manage his alcoholism; sometimes he takes it upon himself to drink.
Even with 6x armor you barely stand after getting ganged up by 2 or 3 enemies.
lol yeah.,, but that’s provided you can gear him up some serious tough ass armor especially on supreme jerk, otherwise you will most likely be seeing him end up like a jungle guide met a grizzly head-on half way to the brush...XD
