Del Hacket Choices
I need some opinions.
I'm at the point where I need to either keep or evict the refugees in the HQ.
Seems like no harm if I keep them, from what I read so far. Some Ranger grumblings.
Keeping them netted me a +15 boost.
I'm not sure how I'm gonna play through the ending, so dont know if this is going to be an issue.
Anyone kick them out and had negative effects?
Anyone keep them and have negative effects?

If you keep them, the extra Rangers you get later won't have bunks and will force you into a position where you either need to evict the refugees, make them stay in the jail, or keep them which then lowers your reputation with the Rangers I believe. I kept them because I like helping the refugees, but a lot of people won't like you because of that.

They're not realy rangers, they're recruits who were marshals and others. You dont lose ranger reputation. Also in the latest patch there is a cutscene and new dialogues if you let the refugess stay in the barracks.
A short unedited video showing this.

How you treat the refugees, in terms of your status (loved, hated, liked, etc) is not going to be a terribly important detail, from what I can tell. The game treats them as people who have basically no political power, which is basically not untrue. Personally I think Del Hackett is always full of crap. If you initially let them stay at the base, the fact that she and her friends haven't frozen to death in the Wasteland, or worse, from that point on means she and her friends owe you EVERYTHING, their very lives. The fact that she continues to moan about the conditions and the recruits treating her people with anything less than 100% acceptance and respect is kind of dumb, on her part, as the correct reaction to all of her "demands", (as if she had the ability or right to demand ANYTHING AT ALL in the first place, which she really does not), would probably be to tell her and her people to hit the road, and she should know that.

I'm getting the feeling I can manage refugees not really liking me much.
Kudos to the devs for completly blurring the line of "Its just a game" and your own personal morals.

There are worldmap vendors for every faction, as far as I know, and some of them, well, pretty much all of them actually, have some good loot to buy (at the very lease, ammo you might be low on at the time), and may or may not give you free stuff based on your rep with their faction at the time.

Sorry about the mistake, I was just going by what I remembered, which was obviously not 100% correct. Personally I like treating the refugees well because they always get treated like crap IRL and in the game. I agree that Del Hackett should be more appreciative and realize what you've done, so she can't really complain. I think it's quite interesting that the robots/AI of the machine commune are the only faction I actually mostly agree with.
