Toaster repair
In your opinion is it worth it to put points into? All I get are these 'coins', anyone ever get anything good out of repairing one?

The Tokens can give you perks and bonus XP % and the skill it self gives you some combat bonuses and perks, so kinda, yeah.

i took it for my first playthrough, and even with the loot perks it seemed pretty underwhelming. it can unlock a special location on your map though. its also pretty great for a fire build, since it has a 25% more fire dmg perk.

you can use the tarjan coins in the vending machine in the bizarre. you can get temporary buffs, or even permanent perks. one of the perm perks is pretty decent (10% evasion). you can savescum for the buffs if you want.

you can get weapons and armor from the toasters, some are pretty good, but I don't recall there being any unique "toaster" weapons. if there are, they aren't all that memorable.

you can get a nice pet if you find all the right pieces for it.

and finally, it's free experience, and there's a useful perk for people who do fire damage at level 7.

I put in on my flamethrower specialist and did not regret it. but overall, it's one of the weaker skills. there just aren't enough toasters to really make it.. pop. heh.

Its worth for Tarjan tokens special gear and it has synergy with some builds aswell like flamethrower.

there is at least one unique weapon locked behind toasters, the Tesla Arc Projector, which is the strongest flamethrower in the game. it can be found at the toaster repair academy

You can get a special ranged companion out of it the tokens and even toast (Really great consumable) so if that seems worth it to you then put some points into it. It has some useful perks on anyone who uses a fire damage.

It belongs to the flamethrower group but it really is just a single target cannon that deals energy damage. Kinda meh really.

No.
Toaster loots by no means give u any significant advantage, hence the skill points are better spent elsewhere.

Specialist Toaster Repairman.

If you don't mind traveling back and forth, you could always have a custom character back at base who puts all his skills purely in toaster repair. Once you've cleared a location go back to HQ, swap in your toaster man, come back and collect the reward.

A lot of extra work for a little benefit, but guarantees you toaster loot without having to waste points from my our main characters.

Quick question about this. Can you get the same perk more than once? Could I get the 10% evasion for instance on several characters with save-scumming?

No, it's not worth putting any points. You can get unlimited Toaster Repair books. Just buy everything from the dude that sells then. When you zone out and back his inventory will reset and he will have another book.

I don't think so. I tried my self several times and it didn't work. YMMV

Get toaster repair to rank 7 on your flame thrower user for the 25% fire damage perk. Stop at 7. You get a +1 toaster repair badge to raise it to rank 8, which is all you need. There is 1 toaster i found that required rank 10, but there was nothing of any value inside it.

Rank 8 gets you all the toasters you need to unlock the repair academy, which is where the verchitin armor set comes from. 70 armor +25% all resists, can bump to +85% all resists with the chest mod. The tarjan coins are nice but not build defining. Giving your tank the Verchitin armor and the 10% extra evasion from the tarjan token, along with nociception clamp for 100% crit immune can make him pretty beastly.
