why are weapon mods so rare?
i cannot follow the logic in the decision to make weapon mods go from easily accessible and plentiful like they were in wasteland 2, to the scarce and nearly non existent in wasteland 3. how could you test play through the game, and think that a system that compels you to never use the high tier mods, because you probably wont find another one, so better not waste it on some low to mid tier weapon is a good idea. alternatively you can use your high end mods early on, and make some great mid tier weapons, but then as you find weapons that are supposed to be upgrades, they are no longer really upgrades, cause your other weapons have mods on them that make them comparable. some of my games, i only found and field scrapped a single red range scope, that is beyond stupid. then to put the icing on the cake, you remove the ability to have a chance to remove a mod from a weapon like we had in wasteland 2. nothing about these decisions make any sense to me.

because you can easily get low level mods from field stripping with the low level perk.

pretty sure that's why they aren't as plentiful in the shops or in drops. but even with that, I'm not finding them to be in great shortage, except the very top level ones, which SHOULD be in great shortage. just keep going, you'll start finding more. it's very rng dependent.

I was sad to not get enough scopes which add range to the weapon. :(
I field-stripped like 20 weapons in one go without getting a single scope.

you can savescum your field stripping if you're desperate.

The long loading times discouraged me from doing that.

well.... you CAN just give yourself some if you want. there is a save editor out there now that works perfectly.

is there just a console command give item command? so i can pretend that my guy that has 10 ranks in weapon modding can remove the mod, because that would qualify him as an expert, yet he is somehow incapable of removing a scope from a weapon.

The linkage underbarrels (those that convert bullets to plasma, frost, fire or explosive) are super rare, and there seems to only be one of each of them in the entire game, and you cannot get them from stripping. Vendors also do not restock. This is dumb, because it means that either you completely waste those mods, or you just cannot even use them until you get the weapons you will be using at the end of the game.

I like that there's actually a purpose to buying stuff this time around. As in Wasteland 2 you found everything you needed. Spending a little money on a cool upgrade isn't burdensome. And helps keep you in the best weapons.

"I chose to burn high tier mods to give me (unmodded) end game equivalent weapons 30% of the game sooner" is a conscious decision you made about what stage of the game you needed to burn a limited resource for a power gain.

That said, I think it would be appropriate to be able to remove and reuse mods, at some cost of course. And would love to see it implemented

The gun itself was already held together by duct tape, all it took was to remove one peice and the rest fell apart

Except that since shop does no restock, even money have a limited use since every ammo/mod/medecin is finite.

Notepad is you friend!! As is save editing you should see this game when you can play with 6 custom companions with story and perks and reusable mods with all the custom backgrounds... makes the game way better and you can fixes a lot of the bugs. Oh the old school stuff, fixing games one notepad line at a time :)

Or just make vendor restock, so, we can buy the same mods again, thus resolving the cost factor.
