How many attribute points do we get?
Hi, i'm a new ranger 'round these parts.

I'm spending lots of time in the character creation (i'm autistic like that, building a max STR and trying to max evasion for a brawler monk).

How many attribute point should i expect to get in the game? / what levels do i get these?

I played for a bit and saw i don't get them on lvl 2 so i'm wondering now how many should i expect to get and when?

If you got a moment i got 2 more questions:
- Can someone tell me if i get retroactive constitution by leveling up STR? ( the "con per level")
- does luck chances apply every turn? i.e %2 luck evasion is just 2% regular evasion? i'm trying to max it with %33 from speed, %20 from luck, and %5 from money poet

I'd appreciate any help

Characters start at level 1 with 21 total Attribute points, then earn 1 point every level to spend how you see fit from level 3 onward. That means 23-33 extra Attribute points to spend, for 44-54 total, per character. This does NOT count the free Attributes that certain items give you.

That means 4 maxed Attributes and 2 at 1 with 1 at 2, or 3 maxed Attributes with a nice distribution between the remaining 4, or EVERY Attribute between 6-8. I'd prefer somewhere between the latter 2 options, myself.

(It's "mopey" BTW, meaning someone who mopes around... like a starving artist, such as a worthless poet... ^_<)

Luck chances apply EVERY action. You might get extra money when you sell stuff out of combat. You might get an extra action after you use an action- ANY action -in combat. Whenever Luck does something for you, the big horseshoe icon floating above your head will denote this.

You get 1 attribute point per level except for level 2 for some reason, level cap is 25, so 23 more attribute points than you have at level 1.

CON is fully retroactive
I have no idea how luck really works. It just does things sometimes.

Fantastic, ty sir! much appreciated!
Level cap is 35. Most people seem to finish between 25-30.

I thought level cap was 35? This is the first I've seen 25 mentioned.
its 35. I been basing end game builds with a level 26 target. Gives you 40 spendable attribute points, in addition to all of them starting at rank 1. Also gives you 79 skill points, 84 if you maxed intelligence. Rank 7 skill costs 13 points. Rank 8 17 pts, rank 9 22 pts. So you can realistically plan on 3 skills at rank 9 and one at rank 8. Using books and or items to get the 9s to 10s if desired. Or whatever you get the point
I thought it was 25 because that's the "master" achievement and I don't see any beyond that.

I was around 23ish when I got the custom ranger reversion bug and decided to start over

Thank you for the comprehensive answer! it really helps me to feel confident now planning ahead!

Only thing i'm left wondering is the Luck evade,
Luck evade it doesn't count as regular evade in my evade score so i can't be sure it works as regular evade, but it makes the most sense to me.
I must say otherwise luck is really sweet, especially getting bonus move and such. Having a death wish really changed things up for me now as i gotta go for some wacky builds instead of the safer ones. not wanting to waste ammo i moved with my death wish sniper to puch someone for 9 AP and got them back, having all of my 13AP ready to go. or for 6AP sniper shots getting a 3rd free sniper shot per turn sometimes is so satisfying.

Much obliged!
With this help i actually changed stuff around quite a bit and feel more confident about playing.
My bad about the spelling, sometimes i write other words than the ones i intend to when i'm on auto mode typing, especially when i type uncommon words for me.

Your distribution seem like the better thing to go for, at first i wanted 10 coordination, now finally dropped it it to 6 but maxed STR to 10 instead to keep my deathwish sniper alive until i slowly level up evasion through luck and speed, seems like a better way to go about stuff as having a 55 HP character without armor stresses me out.
I'll probably stop restarting now.

Thank you very much for the info, it really helped me.
Keep in mind that items that add to a stat retain their use if the stat is at 10 because stat bonuses contine past 10. Like usual, you only get boosts to certain bonuses only every 2 stat points past 10, E.g. +3 CON / level.

i didn't think about it, i guess it makes sense, it was like that in fallout 1-2. thank you for letting me know, it would have been disappointing that stat bonus items would not grant bonuses if you maxed out a stat.
Thanks
