The Homestead is the better choice, because there are opportunities there that you lose out on if you don't save them first. SEVERAL of them are tied to Achievements, as well. Plus, the Marshals are a bunch of corrupt jerks running an intimidation racket, so I don't care about being on their good side anymore... =)
Looks like saving the homestead is more humanist, because the ranger are there to save humanity not to save an organization. Is saving homestead net some reputation too tho?
Then I found a grave of a lady, dunno what really happened it just so strange that the lady said to have suicide. I don't buy it.
This Hoon family creepin' me out.
Is there anyway to dig the grave to find more information?
Damn, I hope I did the right think saving this family instead giving Marshal power armors.
The Hoons just happened to set up their household next to the Bunker, they never went inside because of the traps and robots, at least that's what they said.
The people inside are all dead on account of -somebody- bringing guns and not food and -somebody else- accidentally locking the door for 50 years not 5.
The traps are still active, the robots are still active, the guns are still there, if the Hoons were from the bunker they would have gone after the weapons and robots when they got attacked. Imo judging by the one corpses left in the bunker they probably ate each other until only one was left who ended up starving.
I may live to regret my choice though if I end up facing a whole army of mutants equipped with power armor later on.
Yes, the convoy guys die if you do not help them. It is not only mentioned in the radio message(they built a "monument" using their bodies) you receive from the mutant ambushers but when you reach there, you can see several bloody bodies lying together.
Both provide rep IIRC but it is general ranger rep/fame(the very top most bar on the rep page) and not faction specific rep
Load up an old save and have a go at the caravan option. There's nothing to lose.
Ok I'll think positively.
But there is one more strange thing tho, where is Dee-dee corpse?
I look around the area but didn't find it, I heard Dee-dee died because of gunshot.
I only found the lady grave that written "he took everything, so I choose nothing", is it meaning there is little left to bury of her?
Then Rosemary making cookies during the fight, I don't even want to think about the ingredient.
I already tried saving the convoys.
So in the end either of them will be all dead.
In the case of the convoy several already died when I came but the power armors still fine.
Dee-dee's missing corpse is a mystery indeed, but at this point I'm more willing to chuck it to bugs / forgetful devs than intentional design.
That particular lady is related to another, apparently, unrelated part of the game, you will be allowed to dig the place up once you make the connection. I say apparently because I didn't get around to doing it yet. As for her farewell letter I took it at face value, her beloved took everything from her, including her heart and offered nothing back.
You will encounter canibals in the game, they seem... a lot more unstable than the Hoons. Technically you can kill the Hoons and check their pockets there may be something there, do let me know what you find, and how good that gun on their wall is, I decided to let them keep it.
I chose the Hoon because the son used to be a ranger, and because the goat you can tame is unique. also some funny interactions with Major Tom if you bring him along. Lastly because I hate the damn dorseys, and don't want to even have to think about Erastus trying to pull that stunt again.
the fight is ok on hard... watch out for the guy with the rocket launcher on the east side of the house. I missed him the first time.
the fight with the caravan guys is MUCH harder, but there are ways of making it at least a bit easier if you scout around a little before you start the fight.
and lastly, you get a book of explosives skill and a book of automatic weapon skill either way.
I'd say purely from a min/max standpoint, if you are already "loved" by the marshalls, which you certainly can be by this point, save the Hoon family. if not, do the caravan.
To me there are two reasons not to go to the farm:
1. Long term stability, the Marshals (Corrupt though they may be) are the law in the area, and allowing high tech weaponry to fall into the hands of bandits and out of the hands of the law would logically lead to vastly more death as bandit's just kill people and take things. Marshalls may extort and have corrupt ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but they do protect people, and have good people within their ranks.
2. To deter the use of Civies as Bait. In the long term walking knowingly into a trap because they purposefully harm civilians would show them that such a bait is effective, as such they would continually use it. Better to punish them severely outside of the trap to show them that they can't use innocents to gain advantage AND that targeting innocents will result in harsh retribution.
