anyway all that "animal" followers are pure cannonfodder LOL
There's more to it.
There's a toaster you can fix in Aspen that will have the Owl of Minerva in it. If the Provost is with you when you find it, he'll bring up a dialog screen and say some Latin, but you can't say anything back. There's a Mysterious Cave up in the section where Aspen is, and if you go there with him (and presumably the Owl of Minerva, but I don't know if it's required since I went to the cave after finding it) then you find a circle of other Provosts who will say stuff in Latin. There's a flash of light and you get a perk and the Illuminati achievement.
they are all dead , most of the time, after the first encounter ?
IS THERE AN OPTION to say that they should stay back , or is the problem, that I am playing at normal settings BUT WITH FRIENDLY FIRE (but of course, I am looking not to hit my chars ...)
THAT pets charge always like idiots into the enemies ...
or/and that I play my squad more in a defens way ... building shoot lines and waiting for the enemy at a strategic point ... have 2 snipers and no close combat or shotgun ... so all shooting from 15 to 28 hexes away ...
just killed that slavers in front of my HQ , was level 9 and they have been level 30 or so (2000hp each) ... all my pets and ranger support died after a short time ...
well, you should have atleast one squadmate with a shotgun/ melee weapon, they are massivley beneficial and if they are well equipped essentially serve as a bullet magnet for your force. also if you have nothing fighting in close with the pets then they are going to die most likely, as the enemy will prioritize them since everything else is to far to shoot on the same turn. you can take the animal whisperer perks that allow them to have more con and better passives, but honestly your best bet is to take a more active approach in combat. I only lost 4 pets in my entire playthrough, and that was mostly smaller pets like cats and foxes (kept my bloodbeast around for the entire game that I got in denver)
