Purpose of The Provost?

I found the Provost in a storage container in the warrens. In the Wasteland 2, the Provost helps you open a safe somewhere in the world, but I dont know what the provost does in this game.

As far as I know he just follows you around and fights for you. Or in the case of my game, get's his arm blown off.

I repaired a toaster in the snowed in resort and it had the owl of minerva in it and the Provost said some stuff in Latin.

The Provost is a reference to the mysterious stranger from fallout, as far as I know (I've had him for a while now), he just follows you around and helps you fight. You can heal him to keep him alive, but I'm not sure there's any reason to beyond having another gun.

So I went to a Mysterious Cave up in north-west corner of the map near where Aspen is, and there is a bunch of other Provosts standing around chanting. There was a flash of light and then everyone present got a non-skill perk that gives +1 perception and I got the Illuminati achievement.

Provost was a misterious stranger that spear to you from time to time to help. W3 made it a extra companion. There are several companions that does not take a party slot but can permanently die

wheres the cave exactly? searched all of that area

i want to see if bringing provost to some special location does something

Provost was an npc from Wasteland 2 who followed you to a destination where he unlocked a container, but only if you were a christian denomination.

Also my Provost was really dumb, kept running back and forth between lasers until he died.
