Pre-Order Bonuses - No Thanks :)

I have nothing against some sort of pre-order bonus when it comes to skins, etc.

This is not a post about hating the marketing decisions.

I just think in a game like this it is more fun to start out with the most basic gear. Why get the preorder stuff when you have a whole world of gear to stumble upon? My favorite types of starts in RPGs are ones where you are practically naked and have nothing in your inventory.

I've avoided story spoilers so I have no idea how/where you start but I just enjoy creating as much as possible for myself. What are your preferences?

I mean all you get are 2 cosmetics and skins for existing startng weapons. All the gear is 'basic' its just cosmetic stuff.

I mean even if you had some mega aversion to them, you could just like not use them?

The preorder gear isn’t going to make much difference, it won’t be anything decent. It’s just snow camo skins and a badge that probably has +1 stat to something; nothing to be concerned about

Guys. I'm not concerned. I'm excited for the game and I just had a thought that even when I get these bonuses I rarely use them.

Your post was about not getting the preorder stuff because you want to start with basic gear, well you do start with basic gear, it doesnt even change the design of the gun just a paint job so the thing you were worried about(not starting with basic stuff) is moot, honestly it seems like you just didnt think your post through

Not every pre-order bonus is game changing. Some are cosmetic

No it wasn't. It was saying despite the preorder I want to look basic. I didn't say it helps you win. I'm not worried.

I realize that people in the community forums may be so used to complaints or trolling that people didn't realize I was just expressing a thought that crossed my mind and was curious about other peoples' perspective.

Actually... they're pretty useful. The weapons will last you for a few hours at least, and the hat/glasses and accessory bonus are pretty decent for a while past that, depending on your preference.

But I'm right there with you OP. I think it's a nice bonus for people who are definitely buying, but there's also something to be said about going the "pure route". You can always sell them to the first vendor you come across if you want and get a little cash boost instead.

Will the pre order items be available to purchase after? Lots of other games do that with pre order content.

All it is, is supporting the developers. I swear this generation of gamers is beyond entitled. I want more Wasteland games so I paid. They are the only games anything like the original Fallout.
