Good question, right now it defenetly needs mod support. But since there is not much information about that, i have no good feelings on this topic..

It's built in Unity, just like Wasteland 2. That got plenty of mods over time, so there's no reason to suspect that Wasteland 3 will be any more of a challenge for people who want to mod it.

The save games are xml files, so it'll be dead easy to produce character editors and suchlike.

I was more interested in graphical changes and equipment design...

Wasteland 2 has no modding support though.

It's built in Unity and the save files are xml with a lot of plaintext variables that make it immediately obvious what they are for. What "support" do you want? There are some 60 mods on the Nexus for Wasteland 2, so it's clearly not hard for knowledgeable people to make modifications. Even duffers like me can tweak the save files.

Tweaking save files is not considered modding to be honest. The devs promised us workshop support for Wasteland 2 but never delivered it , so they did know we "ACTUALLY" wanted to mod our games. You can check XCOM 2's workshop as an example. Plus %60 of mods on nexus are portrait "mods".

Yeah, I clearly differentiated between the two but what do most players come looking for? Character trainers, inventory editors and more portraits. Those anyone with basic skills can do.

I'm still waiting to hear what genuine Unity coders can't do without workshop support. Workshop support that immediately splits the PC player base between Steam and non-Steam users.

It doesnt need to be workshop support, just the proper tools to mod the game.

I hope the issue regarding modding availability becomes clear before official release. I will be buying this game sooner or later, sure, but modding availability is important to me. Like others are saying in this post; there will be mods eventually. Still, I'd like to have official modding tools. Cheers.

The graphics are ok by now, but I'd love a Free Camera mod like the one for XCOM that lets you zoom in/out more, and alter the angle of camera to see further. Not being able to see the horizon EVER gives me a claustophobic feeling playing these game. Hope to see more mods soon!

I mean, I'm more looking for the ability to add custom stories, voice dialogue and the like. But we'll see if that opens up in the future. Anyone know how successful Wasteland 3 was in comparison to Wasteland 2?

I'd love mods to improve this game's janky UI. It's ridiculous that you can't see a gun's ability, because the picture at the top takes too much room. Who makes these kinds of dumb decisions?
