iMac 27" 2017, Mojave 10.14.6, no DLC, no mods. Tutorial game worked fine.
Deleted the setting.cfg file.
Lowered graphics to Medium, restart for settings to take effect, Select Commander from New Planet Screen, Black screen, wait, cursor changes to spinning beachball freeze requiring a me to force quit.
Lowered the graphics setting to Low, it's already on low, that's the default setting also happens to be the setting it was on when I sent my setting.cfg to you, but sure, restart, no change same problem as above and before.
Also tested on Main Menu Commander Customization
Deleted the setting.cfg file.
Lowered graphics to Medium, restart, now select Commander Customization, nothing happens still on main menu, wait, then same spinning beach ball freeze, requiring a force quit.
Lowered the graphics setting to Low, restart, no change same problem as above and before.
That did it, everything is now working, so yup problem solved. I have no idea why that worked but good enough.
Update:
Nope, it worked that one time. Started up the game again and it is once again displaying the same behavior as before. Spinning beach ball
I really have no idea....
